unfortunately we couldn't just tune out the trolls, the OP was the biggest one, and if you ignore him you can't view the damn thread anymore... so instead of sitting by and allowing that nonsense, we had to defend Jack's honor lol..
But from what I can see he's not even actively posting on this thread? Seems like an excuse.

again you are new here, many many posts have been deleted by Mods..honestly, you have no clue the shit that was said in here and all of his threads...but not going to waste another second on it..just talk about hockey and right now with him..

That´s right but the playoffs are a different beast even today. I saw Gaudreau getting ragdolled by Colorado for instance. There are many smaller/lighter players who of course can handle it so not saying Hughes can´t be successful in the playoffs but it for sure is more difficult for smaller/lighter players

Pat Kane won a Conn Smythe

Good training for any player to learn to take some heat :naughty::naughty::naughty:
I honestly said that the best thing for him right now is being snake bitten at the WC. This kid has destroyed every level of hockey/tournament he has been at up until now..I want to see how he handles adversity/challenges because he really hasn't faced it in years. He needs to understand things are not going to come easy to him at the NHL level and this is helping him see that.

When you look at his numbers as an underager, there is a bit of a disconnect in production to when he’s playing with peers.

Can he drive play on the wing? Sure
Can he figure it out down the middle? Sure.
Will he? That’s the great unknown.

Drury has put a lot of robins eggs in his basket for this tourney, let’s see how it plays out.

But Blashill is killing me. You’re smoking France, have a PP late, can’t run Hughes out there?
He was ppg in the WJC playing 13 mins a night, and injured. He also had 17 pts in 11 NCAA games so this is truly a myth. People are basing this on the fact that Jeff ****** Blashill is playing him like 6 minutes a game

Small sample size. Four WJC games and three WC games?

I don’t think it’s a great unknown at all. I’m looking at Hughes at 21 or 22 and I see a superstar. But that’s me.

The only reason Hughes went to Slovakia was to improve. That’s it. If you know him and his family, they don’t care about draft status. They care about hard work, discipline, integrity. His grandfather was an FDNY chief and Marine. Incredible history of selfless service. All Hughes talks about are his teammates.

That kid will never stop working to improve, which is scary to think.

Pat Kane won a Conn Smythe
(Completely unrelated to Hughes and Kanes success in payoffs)

Kane is a superb playoff player, but I'm still sad Crow got robbed of a Conn Smythe when he clearly deserved it that year. Not saying Kane didn't, but Crow was an absolute wall that year, they don't get to the finals without him imo.

Tangent done lol

There are tons of players who dominated juniors but didn't end up being elite players,

Name one.

Give me one name that dominated like Hughes, then busted. I want one name of a guy that put up 2.0 PPG against both domestic league and international competition, then failed in NHL game. I'll wait.

Although it's difficult to compare across leagues, especially considering Hughes is playing on the best NTDP ever BY FAR, you do realize Nail Yakupov is a good example, right? Also crushed U-20s....

No one thought he would bust. Should also probably point out the poster you quoted said they did not turn out "elite", not that they busted. Those are different things.

I think Hughes will be great, but I also think your post is silly.

I'll concede that overage CHL players are often, unsurprisingly, among league leaders. For example, this season Joachim Blichfeld led the WHL in G (tied), A, and points. He was a 7th Round pick, and obviously nowhere near the level of a consensus 1OA like Hughes.

Players that fit your more exacting criteria though? Nope.

Read through the Jack Hughes prospect threads. A new benchmark has been established for "silly". The post you cite doesn't even come close.

I’ve already written about what I saw at the tourney, but even with Blashill not putting him in opportunities to succeed, his play with the puck on his stick has left a lot to be desired.

I’m sure he’s a good kid, salutes the flag and uses his left & right turn indicators when he drives, but thinking he might have to move to the wing to start his career(and might stay there) to drive play is something to consider.

Moving to wing is HFB BS. He is not moving to wing.

Not a great example, but ok. He was at about 1.6 ppg in juniors and in international. He was highly regarded, but he never dominated the way Hughes has. Others at 1.6 ppg range were Auston Matthews, Mikael Granlund, William Nylander and Teemu Pulkkinen.

The guys that accomplished 1.8 ppg in both domestic and international: Kucherov, Stamkos and Kuznetsov

Guys at 2.0 ppg in both: McDavid, Kane, and Hughes. That's it. Small club.

(keep in mind not all leagues/years are comparable, but interesting nonetheless)

Hughes was also playing on maybe The best and most stacked junior team USA ever had.
