The 5 best players in NHL aren't necessarily the 5 players with the highest hockey IQ... Many other attributes go into it.I said top-5 PLAYERS. Ovechkin, Kane, MacKinnon, Malkin

Thats fine but they have a higher chance of having that higher IQ.The 5 best players in NHL aren't necessarily the 5 players with the highest hockey IQ... Many other attributes go into it.
I do agree with you on that actually. I’m a big fan of Aho and I think Aho’s IQ is among the elite of the elite and perhaps that’s a bit of an inaccurate comparison. I believe Hughes’ Hockey IQ is great but you are absolutely right when you say his skill is higher than his IQ. Very well said. That being said, Hughes clearly has more raw skill than Aho.I think Aho has a higher hockey IQ. Hughes is good in this category, but his hockey IQ is not as high level as his skill. And because I'm sure someone will take exception because someone always does in reference to Hughes, that doesn't mean he won't be very good. There are a lot of very good NHL'ers, like Eichel, Kane, Hall, Malkin, MacKinnon, Stamkos, Ovechkin whose hockey skill is higher than their hockey IQ. There are only so many Aho's, McDavid's, Barkov's, Kucherov's, Matthews whose hockey IQ is as good as their skill.
Lol too bad Hughes will go from playing with a stacked team to playing with Taylor Hall. However will he fare, oh woe is Jack.
...For 10 games until Hall lands on IR, again.
10 games of Hall is better than a full season from any Ranger...For 10 games until Hall lands on IR, again.
Did Devils fans ever answer for calling everyone haters who said that Hischier wasn't the best player in the 2017 draft?

We need to get a moderator in here asap. It has become comical how pathetic these ranger fans and Finland fan boys have become in a JACK HUGHES THREAD. It's like they have nothing better to do with their lives than pop in here everyday to just talk and try to rattle devils fans because they are jealous they aren't picking number #1. Your opinions on Hughes do not mean anything so why bother coming in here ? You guys are jealous we get it.
What else could this kid have proven in the U18?
Most #1 overall picks never play against men before being drafted. The goal posts just keep getting shifted to meet whatever narrative is popular today.Maybe that's the point? To justify the hype he should prove himself against tougher opposition, against kids it has only limited value. The only chance he has left before the draft are the men's World Championships.
For the record, i am a Ranger fan who has been a Hughes supporter since day 1 of this thread. Im actually glad the Devils fans showed up here. I couldnt keep up with all the nonsense that I was getting quoted in from the Fins.
Why are people living and dying on this hill. Most NHL elite players never played against men at 17. It isn't a big deal. McDavid, Matthews, Eichel, Marner, Barzal, Crosby, MacKinnon, Seth Jones, etc never did at 17 (yes, Matthews and Eichel played in the World's at 18). It seems to be something to beat Hughes down with which has nothing to do with on-ice performance or something that is in his current control.Maybe that's the point? To justify the hype he should prove himself against tougher opposition, against kids it has only limited value. The only chance he has left before the draft are the men's World Championships.

So should scouts should just not consider prospects that play Canadian juniors? Only performances in Men’s Euro leagues?
This is a ridiculous stance to take and I am not sure where it came from. The majority of top prospects did not play against men in their draft years.

I think that is a crazy expectation to have, and not one that most #1 picks from outside of Europe are ever held to. Why now for Jack Hughes? He shredded the U18s against his age group after a very solid season.
