The talent is there. But Ryabkin's got some splainin' to do if he's to be a 1st rounder.

Regardless of what he thought of Dynamo, there's no justification for playing like a petulant lazy oaf for half the season, especially knowing NHL scouts are watching him.
You'd think his competitive nature would take over the minute he stepped on the ice - all times.
Weird situation indeed.

It's especially a glaring contrast if you compare him to Demidov and his MHL play last season. Demidov wasn't happy at all to play in a junior league, and he still played and destroyed it. And look at where he's now.

Interesting how far he's fallen considering where he was considered to be at the start of the year. Could join Raty, Kiviharju, and many others to fall off past the first round. Honestly I think he'll be this years big dropper and could end up being taken in the 2nd maybe even third if questions about his character and compete continue to rise.

Future Vision: Ivan Ryabkin next in a long-line of ultra-talented Russians at the NHL Draft

Unless scouts know something about his attitude or work ethic, I would be shocked if he falls out of the 1st round. He's nasty to play against and can rip it for sure but he has some heavy feet and looks a bit lazy.

He went from overrated to underrated in this years draft.

Not thrilled with his mindset, but the skill is still there in droves
Agree with this and given his nationality and possibility of playing professionally in Russia chances are that he might "slip" a bit in the 25 draft from where his skillset and celling might have him otherwise.

My guess is that a team takes him, if they have multiple high draft picks or have enough of a Russian atmosphere on their current team but he might slip outside of the first round.

If Chicago gets a third first-round pick, like last year, I want the Blackhawks to select him.

This is the player I was most curious about in this draft. Can anyone update how he's looked since he came over? Like I can read a stat sheet, but how has his play looked? There were concerns earlier about his compete level, does anyone else see that?
