Svechkov is an NHL player.

Given the Predators are not a competitive NHL team and don't have any 2C options, there is no real reason why Svechkov shouldn't just automatically slide into that spot. If he did, he'd do fine, and it would be great for the Predators.

Just... somehow the Preds WILL screw this up. They don't handle young forwards well at all, unfortunately.

Not sure whether Svechkov fits that well in the Preds current system, which is a mess anyway but I too am fearful that his hockey IQ will somehow end being undervalued by the current staff. He's such a smart player with an innate knack for being in the right position on the ice, especially defensively.

In his draft year and his D+1 year for that matter I always thought his weakness in offensive game was his shot. Well, obviously he has worked on it a lot and it looks pretty good right now. Probably won't be a 30-goal scorer in the league, but 20-25 on a yearly basis is completely within reach along with 30-35 assists.

I don't think he's going to be good enough to be a legit 2C on a contending team, but I have hopes for him that he could be our "poor man's Anton Lundell" in the future.

Negative. Preds have 3 1s and 2 2s this year already. Why would Preds trade their top prospects/young player for collection of lower picks? You want to build package around Bonk we can talk.

I think Svechkov can probably be a solid 2nd line center....He has 60 -70 pt upside at his peak IMO

What does his draft position have to do with his value? Kucherov was a 2nd round pick.
Flyers or anybody else want him they are going to pay a premium maybe 26th plus Svech for 6th but Predators are not interested in more lottery tickets for a top prospect

Svechkov would certainly be a better player on a different rebuilding team than the Predators, who are probably going to "waste" him as an asset. He's not so good he can be 2C right away on any really good team. But he's also good enough that a sucky team like the Predators who don't have a 2C should just put him there and hope for the best. The Preds WON'T do this. But they should. Svechkov is a good player, talented kid with good vision and overall skill level. But the Preds will definitely find a way to minimize his value and hinder his development, unfortunately.
