No doubt benefiting stats wise a lot from an ohl unstoppable powerplay that has Bonk and Halttunen scoring at will, I don’t think the assist per game is going to translate quite as well without context of a stacked offensive ohl juggernaut and I think the WJC and draft year gives some indication of what that will look like. I'd probably still take Musty as far as 2023 late-1st OHL Forwards that are treating the League as putty in their hands right now. Not trying to neg him. Good prospect that I think will have a good career. Just more 2nd line wing than top line from my perspective.

Indeed, cheap, cost-controlled middle six forward depth is insanely valuable and could help kick out the Leafs window. I think about how valuable a guy like Brandon Saad coming out of the OHL was for the Hawks at the time he emerged.
I really hope he can turn into a top 6 winger. Late first rounders often don't turn into anything. If he can continue this upward trajectory he'll be an essential piece of the Leafs forward group for a few years.

I see the upside of a Konecny-lite (offensively), Konecny-plus (defensively). Similar level of player to a Saad, just different tools and style.

Is that really the case?

48.6% of his production at even strength I have no clue how to embed tweets. Feel free to do so
Nearly half his production is at ES and he leads the league in Short handed points, is he really benefiting from the powerplay as much as youre saying?

@LDN I know you've watched a lot more games than me, any insight?

The London powerplay is way ahead of the rest of the league. It’s pretty unstoppable right now.

He benefits from being on a good team, but he also makes the team good. His speed and creativity are still developing. He could be a complementary piece on a top line, but also could play a 3rd or 4th line role…. Lots of options with a player of his versatility

Cowan and Knies on the Leafs second line for a decade is looking really good isn't it?

Don't see both ever being on the same line. They're both complimentary pieces - hound dogs that get the puck (i.e. what Hyman did for Matthews/Marner).

Which is perfectly fine considering we'll have Nylander and Marner as our two wingers for the foreseeable future.

I see Cowan as more a middle six guy for now - but lets see how he develops

Perhaps not the same line but they are the type of players that really help a top 9 with stuff outside of scoring.

Thanks! Always hard to tell because i only catch the odd game online but it never felt like it was the main reason he was picking up points to me.

I think most Leaf fans would love for a late first round pick to turn into a 2nd line winger with energy and tenacity.

Knies came this year for his first full rookie year and Amirov probably would have been on the team this year (RIP)

Minten, Grebyonkin and Cowan coming soon

Secondary guys like Hildeby, Tverberg and Niemela are there too.

These players could keep the window open for Toronto for sure.

Not all will work out in the NHL but some should.
