C Cutter Gauthier - (2022, 5th, PHI; traded to ANA)

Yeah in the last 5 or so games. Plus the D is getting in on the attack. They are getting to pucks better and I think Gauthier should have gotten a star last night. He was all over the place and was a puck hound. Cronin even mentioned him as a player who stood out. Need more of that from him and the other kids.
This season was always going to be about them taking the next step. If they do there’s an outside shot at the playoffs, if they don’t it’s another high lottery pick.

2 points last night, has like 10 points in his last 14 games after a snake bitten start.

10 in 16, to be exact, after an initial scoreless 5 games. They talked about having him focus on his "4th line habits," and I think it's actually helped him relax on offense. He and Zegras are definitely looking good.

Now if they could just get McTavish going.

He really entered total obscurity by choosing to play in ANA. Maybe that was his goal and what he wanted all along. Haven't heard a peep on him in months.

He's on pace for about 40 points over 82 games, solid but not amazing numbers for his first full NHL season. Not sure how he has actually looked on the ice but I don't think I'd be upset with his production so far.

Glad to know he will be living rent-free in your head forever.

He has been great. 40 points over 82 games for a 20 year old rookie is a good season and I think 95% of Ducks fans are really happy with him.

Also an odd time to make this post since he has been PPG over the last 10 games or so.

Yeah, that was part of my point. He's been on a heater and haven't heard a peep about him in any hockey circles or media.

If he were getting attention we'd be hearing whining about how he doesn't deserve it. Even if the pundits did notice how well his line is playing, they're more likely to talk about McTavish.

But in the end, what's it matter? His team, opponents who watch film, and hardcore fans know he's playing well. I mean, this is the team last year where Dostal wins rookie of the month and gets called a "no name goalie" a few days later. Where Lacombe plays like an all star for over 3 months and people are like "who?". They didn't even have a beat writer for a while.

Good. I would rather he get literally zero credit nationally then be Zegras where he gets some hype from the national media and immediately be labeled as overhyped and hated by other fans.

Lets the Ducks kids just focus on developing.

Looks like he's finding his groove with 9 points in his last 9 games

That's good production especially for a guy playing only 14 minutes a game

Ducks fans, did anything changed in his play recently? More confidence? New linemates? Different usage? Just a result of the Ducks being overall better lately?

The whole team decided to start scoring. They have scored 34 goals in the last 10 games.

He started off not being able to buy a goal. Since he scored his first, he's been a lot better. Lately, he's had Fabbri off his line and Colangelo out there instead and that like looks really good. Hopefully Cronin doesn't break it up.

As a whole, he's very different than what I imagined based off everything I read before he was a Duck. I thought he was going to be a shooter, just set up and one time pucks. But he's actually been solid all around... isn't a liability on defense, can pass and has good vision, skates really well... he's not going to be a superstar, but seems like he'll be an all around top 6 player for a long time.

Bottom six (imo) on a good club. Third line with ability to play up in short spurts. But definitely an NHLer because he can play the right way.

I think he is an easy top 6 forward. Kid will have 40 points as a rookie 20 year old.
So he is at worst a bottom six on a winning team. IMO that’s what he looks like. And that’s a very good piece to have. Not many young (hopeful top six) players have the complete game to be, at worst, bottom six NHLers. They are either legit top six scorers or they bust.

In your opinion he is a bottom six forward on a good team. In mine, he is a top six. Agree to disagree.
