How this kid wasn't even projected as a 1st rounder by some publications is ridiculous. Great pick by the Caps.

As a Knights fan, I would have had him in the bottom half of the first round last year, but it was not unreasonable for some publications to have him slipping into the second round. He lacked a certain dynamism to his game last year, a while he was looking good against OHL defenders, you could make the argument that stepping to professional play would stifle his offense.

It would have been impossible for scouts to predict how much he'd advance over a single summer. I can't think of any aspect of his game that he did not improve dramatically. Skating, stickhandling, shot, vision, defense are all improved this year. No one can seem to defend against him, because he can beat them in so many ways.

Besides the points, he doesn't look as good as the other Connor Mc did, does he?
