Die Hard for Bedard 2023
Had a living viewing of him a week ago. He's going to have a much bigger role next year with the Tips, so you should see his production go up. He's got a pro body already, and I like that he plays the front of net presence on the PP. He also likes to get to the dirty areas in the front of the net, and isn't just a perimeter player.

1G, 2A tonight. He doesn't play a flashy game, but has a lot of skill and is always defensively aware. Listed as C but plays right wing now. I wouldn't be surprised if someone took him a lot earlier than expected. Not mentioned on many lists but he's been my darkhorse pick for 2025 for a while now.

Reminds me also of a recent Silvertips great, Jackson Berezowski.
All 3 players are disturbingly fearless to go to the very dirty areas of the ice.
Bear seems to have some great offensive instinct beyond mucking it up that either Dewar or Berezowski had.
Been playing absolutely great on the wing with Rymon and Miettinen so far.

Just going to bump this guys thread.
Carter Bear is apparently one of the most under-hyped players of this draft. As of 11/1 he has 21 points (12 goals) in just 14 games and it’s no fluke. This is a talent player.
Carter Bear will certainly go in the first half of the first round. Carter Bear plays Right Wing and Center for Everett. He plays in all situations and is an impact player. He has a similar play style to Porter Martone. Bear is a two-way forward with excellent mobility, motor, and hockey sense. He is the type of player that puts himself in positions to score. He engages in net front battles, challenges defenders along the boards, and simply outworks his opponents. I’m curious as to how many of his goals have been scored in close proximity to the net because he always seems to find a way to put himself in great positions at the net front. He’s a true two-way player with great mobility and skill. When you watch his team play, you know when he is on the ice.
I think Bear is a great player but I do feel he is a tier below Misa, Hagens, and Martone. The reason for this is I have some doubt over his ability to truly drive offense at the NHL level. I think he will certainly play in the NHL, but he will be more of a complementary winger. He will need to continue to improve his play making ability and he will need to bulk up in order to have success with his play-style professionally.
If the draft was today, I would consider drafting Bear after 6th. I feel like he’s in a similar tier to most of the guys I would consider taking after that spot. I guarantee in the next few months you’ll see his name skyrocket on some draft lists. Teams are going to want this type of player in their system. He’s an absolute dog out there. He has the type of drive that you either have or you don’t. Players with his drive, mobility, and skill are hard to get.

He's a very similar player to Tij Iginla in last year's draft - nothing super flashy, just a very solid all-around skillset, pro release on his shot, skates well, goes to hard areas of the ice.
Should be noted that he's basically the same age as Iginla, though, so his breakout is a year behind Iginla's and he probably shouldn't be put quite on the same level as a result.

He has the speed and commitment to defense to play center but I think his game will be most effective as a winger.

1G, 2A tonight. 2nd in WHL scoring. When are the scouts going to wake up about this guy? Like I've said before, he doesn't have one stand out skill, but is a great all arounder. Very sneaky and hard shot, and plays all situations.

Couldn’t agree more. This guy is a player. I have him ranked 10 currently. There might be some fluctuation in my rankings, but I think he’s a top 15 player for sure. One of my favorite guys in the draft right now.
Ranked pretty Low by Scott Wheeler at 39. Wonder if he'll enter the top 15 conversation if he keeps it up or is destined to be a late first/early second type
Scouting services are normally *really* slow on recognizing quick starts/improvements for guys who weren't considered bluechip prospects heading into their draft year. It took everyone forever to get Parascak into the top 45 picks last year.

Bear has been one of my favorite players to watch this season. Not only does he know how to win puck battles, he wants it more than anyone else, he knows how to protect the puck, and he is also very quick to complete a pass after he wins it. He may not have the highest offensive upside, but this guy is going to play in the NHL.
