If HIFK head coach Jarno Pikkarainen HIFK A juniors head coach Kimmo Kuhta and HIFK GM Tobias Salmelainen has any brains left that trio gives Lambert his liiga debut this season to make sure Lambert doesn't get any interest to go CHL next season. And Finnish hockey association needs to make possible that Lambert plays Team Finland in U18 WJC's next April. Lambert is talent which doesn't come from Finland every year or decade so better not to screw this up.
There has been a top-3 draft pick from Finland for 4 straight years. To say that Lambert is a talent which doesn't come from Finland every decade is pretty far-fetched. And see all the guys coming up... If he wants to leave, then he'll leave. We don't have to beg for anyone to represent us.

For clarification, I hope he doesn't leave and I don't think he will.

Lambart can't play for Canada unless he plays 2 full seasons in there, which means 2020-2021 and 2021-2022.

Hence, Lambert can't participate in u-18s ever, if he won't represent Finland. And likely u-20s as well.

I mean, Lambert also said he'll represent Finland.

I mean, Lambert already played at the youth olympics last season.

There is no way a finn would ever play for another nation. Not in a case like this, sorry canadians but it won't happen don't get any hopes up. Finns are way too patriotic to do such a thing.

Aren't the games going once in a 4 years? As far as I remember, Svechnikov was destroying an opposition at previous ones, untill he got the major for a headshot (or boarding, don't exactly remember).

Lambert played in the European Youth Olympics Festival... EYOF... not the actual youth olympics thats in 2020

I was under the impression that being a 2003 born meant he would not be eligible for the youth olympics? would be nice if he was to see all these top 2022 prospects in one tournament.

I made some research and found out IIHF's national team representation rules.
If Lambert plays in Team Finland any IIHF tournament ( U18 WJC's example ).

And after that he wants represent Canada then it means that
Lambert must apply for the Canadian national team representation right.
And that requires four years of continuous gameplay in Canada.

So if it's up IIHF's national team representation rules
Lambert playing in Team Canada not gonna happen.
Nice try Hockey Canada but not good enough. :D

Oh, right, I see. Still think it's dumb to have something age group-related only every 4 years.

Pretty sure it was a high hit on Wahlstrom.

Amazing and totally new information that totally wasn't gone through in the last two days.

If Kingston finishes last in the OHL they could potentially end up having a top line next season with Fantilli- Wright- Lambert together !!! That would be crazy and fun to watch !

It's not happening.

Don't be so sure.
If / when Lambert won't get SM liiga games in HIFK this season
then it's very possible Lambert will consider to go CHL.

HIFK has history screwing up with talented juniors ( Kristian Vesalainen ).
Lambert's contract with HIFK is only 1+2 and those two last years are Lambert's options.
So nothing is not set in stone before Autumn 2020.

First of all, your "discovery" was discovered ages ago and your just parroting what's been said before many times over. And as far as who Lambert is going to represent, given the circumstances as well as his own statements, that should be pretty obvious - no matter what kind contract he currently happens to have.

The only thing weird here is that they haven't given him the opportunity to play in the league yet, but they are well aware if they want that bonus extended, that's just going to change in the second half if not sooner. They're not going to gamble with losing Lambert.

Isn't he 16? Not that many players get to play in Liiga that age and it is even harder on top teams like HIFK.

And i also dont get why he wouldn't just wait for next year to get play in HIFK. Liiga is great place for young players to grow, play and learn more.
