Yep. Marner can work really well with scoring centres like the one he played with in London.

Yup, Matthews may be on a higher level than Dvorak; but they do share similar all-around qualities that meshed very well with Mitch.

Really looking forward to seeing how our lines fall into place - I have a feeling one of our lesser talked about forward prospects will find a niche in our top6. Especially when you have the ability to play with such high end skill (Nylander/Matthews/Marner)

Should be a fun development year - so glad we have the right guy steering this ship.

Yeah I see a Malkin/Sakic/Forsberg hybrid in Matthews. His potential cannot be determined yet, he's too good to be given a ceiling right now.

I think the flaw in the Forsberg comparison is how aggressive and risk-taking Forsberg was which was a big part of his game. In that regard Malkin is a better comparison.

Yeah I remember mentioning the Malkin comparison from either the U17 or U18 a couple years ago. The way he was kind of galloping around the ice and smoothly dangling everyone at top speed reminded me of Malkin. One play in particular where he goes behind the net at almost top speed, stops, banks the puck off the net as the defender just keeps flying by and brings it out front to score. Could only dream of that type of production.

But what is his generational class? I'm going with 2B which clearly states under the generational code that he will score between 100-200 points every season for 25 years.

This may be an exaggeration but partly true, but never in my lifetime have the leafs had this type of player and it is super refreshing and exciting. I can't wait to watch this guy play. Leafs fan since 8/9 yrs old and now I'm 26.

Someone posted the lines scrawled on a piece of paper in the toronto board. Looks like he's slotted on RW with larkin on the left. Also they're putting him on the first PP unit with Mcdavid and Eichel

Thanks!

Personally, I think that RW will be much better for Matthews than LW.

Look at all those plugs he goes up with, no wonder he's doing so well. Wait until he vs. real NHL competition.

Those zone starts for game 2 can't be right, can they? Where'd you get the data from?

That's a lot of responsibility for a guy who hasn't played 1 NHL game yet.

When you scroll up from the bottom of the page quickly this last D pairing comes across as "Really Bad" !!!!

Well, I guess their ZS % is as a pure number - indicative the coaches trust them in their own zone - but their play definitely is not. They have been an effective pairing and I suspect will log tons of ice time in this tourney. I still think Parayko is going to move up the depth chart as the tourney progresses. He looks faster and more agile than he did last year - kid is a stud.

It's been a 12 hour work day - I needed a laugh and got it. Go Team North America!

It should be correct. I saw Matthews constantly starting in the defensive zone. It also is in line with his linemates.

That's crazy. I'm still curious where you got it from?

Is it a good sign if he's being started in the defensive zone? Does it mean he's reliable for defense or does it just mean the coach doesn't think he's good enough at scoring?
