He's a giant and very skilled with the puck. He also has a lot of time to improve his skating by the time his draft year comes around.

Wow, not too much talk about Barkov even though he has been so impressive.

He´s is probably the only Finnish prospect (besides Granlund) who actually deserves an own thread. In my eyes he is the most promising Finnish prospect out there (yes, including Granlund). Sasha has the size, maturity, skill set, shot, defensive play.. Pretty much the whole package. All the weaknesses (faceoffs, skating) are age related.

Also, am I the only one who sees a lot of Datsyuk in Barkov´s play? I mean he is so effortless and smooth stickhandler, excellent at taking the puck away from opponent, amazingly mature in the defensive zone etc.

Just cant wait for next year when he gets the PP/PK-time/ice-time that he really deserves. Based on his play this far, he should be centering the 2nd line (Salomäki-Barkov-Armia.. yeah, I wish).

Plus he's a Habs fan. Hope we end up with him somehow.

By sucking badly? Or trading one of your better players? He's going to be top 5 in his draft class.

He's top 5 now because the other 2013 eligible players haven't stepped up yet. A lot can change by June 2013.

Well, anything can happen I guess, but he's a skill forward with 190cm+, 90kg+ frame, strong, soft hands, good wrister and great vision... It's hard to see him fail. He's already a decent centerman in men's league as a 16 years old.

He would be perfect cornerstone player for Habs for years and i think that Habs roster screams for Barkov. Hes been really, really solid defensively at WJC and hes been able to create chances in every game but it's obvious that he needs to develope his skating. He is just 16 and already 205lbs, nearly 6'3, his muscles in legs haven't developed as fast with his body. I'm not Habs fan but i hope that he will end up in montreal.

When 2012 prospects have stepped out, Barkov would be easily 1st rounder in the 2012 draft maybe top 15-10. If we compare him to Galchenyuk, Barkov is much better two-way player despite that Galchenyuk is decent at the defensive-zone. Galchenyuk might be ahead him offensively just because he is faster but when Barkov has his skating in good shape he is really hard to stop. Barkov made Galchenyuk look very bad at Ivan hlinka when they was matched with each other nearly all the time. Stole the puck from him many times, getting penalty for Galchenyuk which ended up to his goal which was game winner.

Really impressive player. His stickhandling and vision are great. Although his skating looks quite akward he seems to have time to make plays. First of all he is very patient and calm with the puck and finds his linemates with ease. Incredibly mature for his age. Even MiGranlund has tried some unncessecary stupid dekes (and failed; against Czechs), not to mention Armia, but this 16 years old kid dangles only in tight spaces when needed and usually with success.

I'd say Barkov and MacKinnon are Top2 in 2013.

Btw Barkov is one day younger than MacKinnon. Maybe that helps him to the 1st place.

I called 1st overall a year ago. They laughed at me.
Can't wait for the draft.

Good writeup from Barkov. His decision making is pure excellence. But i think that he should be more brave and try something because he has all the skill and strength to do it. Barkov has plenty of time to get his skating better. His top speed is actualy ok but his accerelation and agility needs to get better.

He's been very impressive for a sixteen year old kid. Did not look out of place at all.

Considering how well he's done already, I'm looking forward to next year to hopefully see a dominant performance.

He's been pretty much what I expected. Slow but makes up for it with vision.

I've also been impressed. Definitely needs to work on his first few steps and his overall skating, but he's big, smart and has vision.

Weather Barkov is #1, #2 or #10 depends totally on how he does next year at this tournament.
Scouts and GM's tend to want to pick the most dominant player of the tournament first.
