I believe his about 188 right?

6'3 = 1.905 m
6'4 = 1.9304 m

I do not believe he is 1.93 m tall or even "clearly over 6'3". Might be in a couple of years but not yet. At least according to what I've seen in his last games.

Commentator said that he's well over 190cm and laughed that hes listed only 188cm watch that goalclip from ilves tappara he seems to be taller than jerry ahtola who is 192cm 1cm away from 6'4 i would say that barkov is 6'4+

Barkov isn't eligible yet in the next draft, so that doesn't matter one bit.

Lol.

Maybe I was just trying to make a point that it's not totally out of question that we'd be contenders by then.

1 assist today + 15+ TOI. Had an solid game. He is suprisingly strong for his age. He managed to overmuscle guys named Kris Beech and others. Good at taking hits and still managing the puck possesion. +1 again today which makes +6 which is clearly best in the team. But i gotta praise his two-way game again. Just spotless. I will eat bad of **** if he is 6'2. I would say that hes well over 6'3 maybe even 6'4 not sure.

Barkov had to take four tries on a SO. Two of them went in, one hit the post and one was saved. He took all the three SDSO tries that were taken after the first three attempts. His team ended up losing though.

Agree.

He will be the rookie of the year in SM-liiga.

I think it's prety close race with Tommi Taimi and Barkov Jr. but i think Barkov will win it. Have you guys seen his skating developing? He can blow past defenders with his speed added with his strength. He has good speed for his size but needs to develope his agility. From the Ivan Hlinka his skating has developed alot.

Barkov has 0 precent finnish blood :sarcasm: He's 100% russian who have lived whole life in Finland. He speaks fluent finnish but it's obvious that his mother tongue is russia. We have to thank mother russia for this charity into poor finnish prospect system.

He is a product of the finnish youth hockey system so i think we can take the credit to ourself :)

I know Im gonna take a lot of heat for this but from what i see the kid has a bad stride. He picks up his heels at the end of his stride and takes away from his acceleration. Can get away with it now, but no way can he get away with it in the pros. Surprised to see it not fixed in his game at this point, which could be a bad sign if he's reluctant to change it. Great hands, shot and vision, just some real technical deficiencies in his stride. This is just from watching him a few times but just my observations.

You're right, his skating looks bit clumsy. His Speed is just fine but he is not very agile. He has very good strength for his age tho. Outmuscling adults right now, outmuscling ex NHL players. He could be 220 lbs very well at the draft and he has couple seasons to work with his stride which has gotten better from ivan hlinka. He's actualy playing pro hockey right now and he's fine. His only flaw is his clumsy skating but he has exceptional positioning and seems to be in right place all the time.

You don't fix something like that right away, it's going to take time. I'm sure he's not reluctant at all. my observation is that he just does't have enough power in his legs yet after growing about 4 inches in one year. He does look a bit clumsy but I don't think it's anything alarming, he's still got almost 2 years before the draft. Oh and by the way he is in the pros already :)

I remember Tormentor stating that his fast growth hurted his skating. He is kinda stocky for his age and was about 5'9 2 years ago. I think you're right about his leg strength. When he get more leg strength he will be fine. If Rautakorpi is the coach for tappara at next season Barkov's skating gonna develope big time.

With this logik Canada only has about 9-10 NHL players to show for their poor youth system. They should thank the whole world for the "charity"

Thing is that with growth spurts, you have to limit your weight training. Mikko Koivu couldn't start proper weight training until basically during/after his last SM-liiga season. Since Jukka Rautakorpi is going to take over at Tappara next season and he has a history of improving the mobility of bigger player in hsi teams, I expect Barkov's skating improve next season. Provided of course his growth allows it.
