Tappara coach stated that he had to say to Barkov not to push too hard to develope himself off the ice too much because the season is long. He said that Barkov has huge passion for the game and to be a better player.

If he keeps that passion up then he'll end up as amazing skater and physically an beast. We saw how he developed his skating and strength at this summer.

Have you guys noticed how he reminds alot from Jere Lehtinen in his personality?

He buys every word what coach says and buys the team concept 100%. He seems to be quiet guy who does everything what is required on and off the ice and even more just like Lehtinen. He seems to be very hard worker off the ice aswell. Doing it all like professional and gives example to every team mate and even to the older players. With his passion, his skillset, his smartness and loyalty for the coach and to the team mates will bring him far in the NHL without injuries. There is also alot talent in this draft who has similar work ethic for sure. I'm just very excited because i see alot of Jere Lehtinen in his personality which is alot to say.

Has Barkov stopped growing? Still 6'2''?
He's listed at 6'2", 209 lbs on the SM-liiga website, but who knows, it could be out of date. Nieminen is listed at 6'1", 207 lbs, and Barkov looks very significantly bigger, both on and off the ice. With that being said, 6'1" could be a "generous" listing for Nieminen, wouldn't be surprised if he's closer to 6' in real life.

He also just turned 17 a month ago, so probably still has a bit of growth left in him. If he's not 6'3" yet, he probably will be in a year or two, and he already has a very strong/solid build for such a young player.

Don't think you caught the sarcasm.

Maybe there was a bit of sarcasm but it was a genuine question nevertheless. I've been reading posters saying hell yeah he will be huge or something, bigger than ristolainen (who is 6'3'' i think) etc. But Barkov just keeps being listed 6'2''. I think that is correct and Nieminen is closer to 6'. I wouldn't say Barkov is or will be "huge" or even 6'3'' ever, just "good size". I think he has stopped growing already. - But has he stopped developing as a player now? Has he suddenly stopped putting up points?? Who knows, only time will tell. Maybe he has just run out of luck as Woodlief suggests, no more lucky bounces and rebounds?? I am a tad worried. Sarcasm included-.

the thing i've noticed about Barkov is that although he's not a heavy hitter he is really strong with his free hand in corner battles.. he can hold the defender off and still make a play with one hand on his stick

Re: his size, he's not monstrously tall, but he's still plenty tall and just has a very stocky, solid build. He just turned 17 a month and a half ago and is already around 6'2" and 210 lbs, he's a big, strong kid. We're talking a Backes, Ovechkin, Mikko Koivu, etc. type of a build, just a really solid frame. Regularly wins puck battles against men in the SM-liiga, and again he just turned 17 a month and a half ago. As f1nn noted, it's not his style to be a big time hitter, but he's strong on the puck.

Also, "suddenly stopped putting up points"? He's gone pointless for 1 SM-Liiga game (and one meaningless inter-league game against Brynas), before that he was on a 4 game point streak. He's not exactly in a rut.

I've seen him sometimes throwing his body...and looked like a truck crash. Would like to see more though but that's not his game.

Barkov was asked couple months ago on twitter how tall he is he stated that he is 190cm which is 6'3 and 91kg which is around 200lbs. His twitter username is barkovsasha95 and I believe that he answers to most of the questions.

no stream???

game is on. After the first period no points for Barkov. It seems he and his line are struggling now after the hot start. Barkov may fall quite a bit if this ***** continues-.

Well, let's see after a few games... Tappara is struggling as a team and Barkov's line's been quiet.
