they've lost Gaudreau, laine, and Jenner from a team that wasn't overflowing with offensive talent last year. There aren't a lot of great options.

Kent Johnson? Or instead of loading Chinakhov and Marchenko with Monahan split them and give Fantilli someone to work with. Right now they have a soon to be 20 year old and a 21 year old being asked to lead their own lines.

This season is a complete write-off for the Jackets. Here’s a thought - the guys you drafted to score can learn to “play the right way” (i.e., score) by gaining chemistry together in as many offensive zone situations as you can give them. Not lugging rejects around.

Putting a bunch of kids together doesn't automatically mean they are getting prime offensive looks, and giving them offensive looks only doesn't help them round out their game.

They want them to be two way guys not defensive liabilities. Once again, it's teaching them to play the right way all over the ice, not just putting up numbers.

You're forgetting the most important thing: if Columbus does it, it's wrong, and it's other fanbases' mandate to remind us silly billies of that. Doesn't matter what "it" is.

Is Fantilli with JVR and Labanc teaching him to play the right way by covering up all the major warts those 2 have? KJ-Fantilli chemistry would have massive short term and long term benefits

Fantilli would be playing with Brindley had he not gotten injured. It's the first game of the season and the forwards are a mess with all the injuries.

Since they seem to project him as a center long-term I hope his defensive positioning and breakout/transition game will improve this year. I'm less worried about scoring numbers, or what kind of "chemistry" he will have in the offensive zone with certain linemates.

Yes, JVR might not be the player that he once was, but he's still a respected veteran whose played more NHL hockey than Fantilli has ever dreamed of. There's more to being an NHLer than producing.

Once again, this season isn't about getting the perfect combinations to maximize offensive production, it's about putting the kids in the best situations for their long term development.

If Gaudreau, Jenner and Voronkov were in the lineups, I would have a different attitude towards it, but when the roster makeup is what it is, you have to make sure the lineup isnt just one skilled line and a bunch of other lines getting run over because there's no skill on them.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure the CBJ were actually intentionally rebuilding.

Yeah I mean we know what happened with Gaudreau. That's going to leave a massive hole in the lineup no matter how you try to scramble.

Johnson had 6g /10 A in 42 games last season. Spent time in the AHL

Chinakov had 16g/29pts in 53 games

JVR 11g/38pts in 71 games

Labanc sucked ass but was a consistent 30+ pts guy before

There isn’t some major gap in their resumes to date
