The Russian ref who didn't know that if you remove your goalie from the ice, he can be replaced by a skater. I think he's worse :help:

He's not a good coach. He's spoiled with Crosby and Malkin. He was in over his head with the national team.

Can't only blame him when the team selected from the start was a garbage team.

Bylsma, Burke(as usual) and Poille are to blame equally.

Are you saying the USA is garbage? Because the team they took pretty much consisted of the best players they had to choose from imo. They had a good team, but Canada is just better.

I was disappointed in his ability to adjust. I think the Russian coach was worse though. Nonetheless I would not want to see Bylsma behind the bench of team USA again.

Bylsma was not the worst but he is not a good coach. Its been obvious for a while and its why many Pens fans have been fed up with him. He also loves his favorites, I believe he said something about playing people that had the best chance to score in the final period, but Orpik was out on the ice.

As a Pens fan, this is good as if he somehow won gold, there would never be a chance to be rid of him.

It's obvious by his 4 favorite players: Adams, Glass, Orpik and Engallend

One of them takes a dumb penalty, gives the puck away, stopping their linemates offense? Have some more ice time

Gibbons, Megna and Bennet create lots of offense and give the puck away once? Your being demoted to the 3rd/4th line and having your ice time cut

Bysmal's obsession with grinders, veterans and physical players is ridiculous. The reason he played Orpik so hard had nothing to do with him being a penguin, any pens fan can attest to that, he isn't that type of person. The reason is; Bysmal simply has a love affair with Orpiks style of play.

Bysmal can be a good coach but he needs to stop being biased, stop playing favourites and stop thinking that his players can be consistent each game that he can keep using the same strategy

Performance of the team today should effectively end any association Bylsma has with Team USA. And whoever's choice it was to make him coach also should be gone. what a ****ing embarrassment.

After the first goal against today, he left the same 5 players on the ice. They got scored on immediately after to make it 2-0. Even coaches in minor hockey change a line after a goal against. He left the same D pairing on after the third goal too.

He's a horrible coach, but so were Russia & Czech coaches.

He did the best he could with the talent he had.

No. No way. Bylsma was absolutely a poor coach in this tournament.

I have also heard plenty of pens fans who have seemed to be losing patience with him over the past couple of seasons and I now feel like I understand why.

As soon as he was named to coach a national team, you guys were ****ed from the get go.

We knew this, yes. But we also knew that a lot of politics goes into the selection of these teams. Canada is no better. It comes down to who is hurt the most by the selection politics.

i thought it was funny how exited he got when Kane got his stick broken asking for a penalty shot.
many coaches in this tournament dont even react at a leading goal.

he wasnt good, but Russia was much worse for sure.

Bylsma- Loser Coach for picking HIS guy Orpik...

Brooks Orpik had no right to be on this team.

He was on there because the USA coach also coaches the Penguins. That's it. A very self-serving, short-sighted move.

I almost liken it Mike Milbury picking "his" Bruins for the all star games- guys like Chris Nilan, Gary Galley and Dave Christian. (singlehandedly changes the way all star rosters are chosen...what a legacy you have there you POS.)

And yet Dan B's choice was in the olympics. Far more disgraceful. My 6 year old even asked who the "slow guy" was...just complete BS.

I like Brooks- (went to BC myself and have followed him since), but this "my guy" crap has no place on this level. If a different Dman was playing maybe Benn doesn't score.

Thanks Dan!

Peter Laviolette would of been the hands down better choice.

Gosh I hope he's the next coach of the Sabres :(

If Bylsma is "obsessed" with grinders that's the absolute worst you could've ever picked for this OG. I think him and Burke ruined a lot of the chances USA had.

Bylsma is a great front-running coach...looks good when his team is winning. The bronze game just looks a lot like the games where the Pens are eliminated from the playoffs. His teams are known for crash and burn exits from tournaments. I doubt he's the head man in 2018.

Agree with this. I feel bad for Pens fans. But to put our country, our proud Americans, and our team to that type of adjusting issues and favoritism is horrible. It's like a slap in the face. I hope USA Hockey doesn't even have him on recruitment list for 2018 Olympics. I'm sorry Pens fans, now America knows what you're going through :(

Bylsma was terrible, especially in the medal rounds where his team collectively lost by a combined 6-0 score. That said, the Russian coach was probably worse.

Bylsma has a lot of great coaching qualities.

He - apparently - has a great personality, great communication skills, and a great ability to deal with people.

He is not, at this time, a great coach.

At some point in time he certainly could be. But in order for him to take that next step, he's going to have to be willing to make drastic philosophical changes in 2 or 3 key areas.

Bylsma's not a good coach, in fact he's probably one of the worst 5 in the league.

Whats funny is Babcock Hitchcock, and Julien are all top 5 coaches IMO
