So, for those who aren't going to watch this game tonight!

I'm seeing a 12 round shootout loss, I know it's not a good attitude, but the way this team plays its real probable.

The great LeaFland goalie controversy starts on Monday however, when Simmons, Feschuk and Masters all write articles mentioning Wolls horrible season so far. Of course that's picked up by overdrive who'll beat it to death and then have Dreger on to add an exclamation point. Dreger states that hes sensing that it's possible that the Leafs may be thinking about moving Wolls contract because paying a guy 11 million to not stop pucks isn't what they had in mind. Tuesday morning "Leafs Take" sort of reiterates Mondays Overdive with Alberga saying there's a market for Woll as many GMs have been impressed with Wolls play and maybe they can package him and Marner to the Kraken. By Tuesday at 1500 hours LeaFland has picked up on this and starts a new "Trade Woll" thread which by page two has turned into a Marner sucks thread.

But I digress, back to the game.

Stolarz will be big in net and have only a couple get by him out of the 28 shots that get to him.

Our popgun PP will again pass themselves out of real opportunities and post another Ofer. They'll generate 2 shots on 3 opportunities and Chief just glare at Masters post game question, when he asks why the PP can't generate chances and when he plans to fix it!

The PK will again be effective not allowing anything and grabbing a shorty

Willie sets up JT with 5 mins left in the third to tie it up and the team and Stolarz comes up big and survives the onslaught by Minny with several blocks, 2 ten bell saves and some real hard work keeping the puck below the goaline to drag it into OT.

Stolarz again makes 3 huge saves in OT to get the game to the SO. Key though is Willie taking a huge slash while carrying into the Minny zone, both Refs shake their heads simultaneously, no call.

The guy who scores the SO winner gets the 1st star.

This Leafs team doesn't look all that good to me.

I don't do stats, but just based on what I've seen I'd say they've taken a step back so far this year.

I would like to see them do better.

JMHO.

They seem like they are better in some areas, but those are negated by the joke that is the PP. I would say it looks like more of the (playoff) same to me. Who could have guessed?

Yeah, who gives a shit about the regular season. None of that matters.

Shooting for the eighth and final playoff spot feels more natural for this franchise.

There is potential there... whether or not the find it I guess is the question. We are better on defence, bigger and more physical on offence. If they can get the special teams to be even league average those things should matter. I still question the core's ability to get it done when it matters.

I like your post, and I'm truly hoping you're right.

I've been following this team since I moved to Toronto in 1980.

I'm okay playing the long game, but this looks like a bit of deja vu. Get rid of the soft kids and bring in some grizzled vets. Sure.

That player-development thingy is too long and takes too much patience. They would never get immediate results that way, unless they were to really stick with it.

This core is fundamentally not serious. They were developed wrong based on an all-skill approach and just don't have the fight to excel in tough moments. All efforts to build a supporting cast just looks like trying to graft on a B team to that group and I think results will continue to be up and down, Jekyll and Hyde and won't stand up to the pressure tests.

You've spoiled it for everyone.

I'll check in late to see who is 1st. star.

I'll go with Bogosian as he's 100% on shootouts.

Yup same, early 80's for me as well.

Me too!

The problem is that the core is the same, and the core is the leadership group, and the core has not shown the ability to get it done. We need way more mean imo.

Our 5v5 stats actually look pretty decent so far but our powerplay has been trash and has cost us points/wins.

The way our team is built and the salary design that comes with that, there's just no way we'll be elite without a very good powerplay.

Does it make sense to leave the 1st. powerplay being run by the same pass happy players?

Worst in the league this year.
17th. last year.

With the talent they have and a complete change of coaching, changed everything and it regressed further.

Amen brother. Like 8 years isn't enough to know that.

The fact the upper management looks at this and continues to make comments like 'they are top players in the league' and 'it's hard to bring in better players' tells me they have lost the plot.

Yea, they are great individual players, they are not a winning mix. But yes, lets try it again. Hope to hell they make us look like fools for not believing in them

Lately would rather watch a movie with the wife and check out the YouTube highlights after the game is over. A more sociable evening all in all and not pissed off for 2 1/2 hours. Hoping they'll eventually play with heart and I can go back to watching every minute of every game. Need their best players to be entertaining and likeable. So glad I can just change the channel instead of feeling obligated to sit through the whole game like a season ticket holder.
I've never dropped out of so many games as last season and now into this one. The diehard watch every minute of every game days are long gone. If it's become 'one of those games', I have less than zero interest in watching, I'll just put up the score and check in later.

I'm one of the few Reaves advocates on this board but even I have to say that he hasnt looked menacing at all this season.

Not a single fight and he doesn't seem to have the feistiness we need from him as our main heavyweight.

I'm definitely disappointed not sure whats going on with him
