No, no no. They’re gonna look way better getting eliminated in the 1st or 2nd round if they add. Hopefully it’s another absolute stud like Nolan Dann or Oliver Peer. 🙄

Yes but look at the bright side. You won’t need to watch Clattenberg because he will be moved for the assets to acquire his replacement.

Not a lot of love for him in Flint, so I would like to see Kostov in Sudbury or Kingston or Niagara. Flint could use more picks.

The way Soo fans talked about him last deadline, we thought we were getting a future stud.

Outside of trying hard, he's an absolute dud.

It depends on expectations, I guess. If expecting a bigger version of G.Hayes, plus Clattenburg and picks; you would certainly be very disappointed.
I’m fine with a reliable big body that can create havoc on net plays with 2.5 seasons left to develop into a more dominant player.

Soo fans are funny at the deadline. If they are selling they want the moon, sun, stars and picks in return and if they want a player they want to trade peanuts in return. It’s not shock they would talk up a weak player to get other teams fans on board.

Clattenburg has been much better than I would have expected. He never showcased that kind of offensive skill in the Soo and I would have laughed if you said he would be drafted. Kostov was seen as the prize of the deal by almost everyone.

That's the fun thing about junior hockey. You never really know who's going to take that big step and who is going to stagnate. People can say what they want about fans, but a GM saw enough potential to deal a star player for Kostov. It just hasn't worked out for him.

Can generally expect the big improvement to shoe at 19 or 20 though. I would have a lot of patience for a 6’4” RW that is not a defensive liability.

I was more upset to see Kostov ('06) moved than Clattenburg ('05), but it was mostly because we were hoping to build around our '07 core and I thought Kostov had potential to be a really good OA. At the end of the day Flint traded for a player averaging .42 pts/gm though.

Looks like a lot of window shopping and no buying thus far. Terry Doyle mentioned on the roundtable that he felt a lot of trades won't happen until Thursday or Friday as teams don't want to show their cards too early and hoping for some bargain prices. Starting to play out that way.
And of course after I post this a bunch of trades will be announced, lol. Be safe.

The heavily rumoured OSH-SSM trade has hit a snag with no trade clauses. We'll see if that's the undoing of the trade or if they can get around that

And here I thought wins and losses was a solid indicator of a show of hands… I am so confused in the new age of hockey. All these crazy strategies.

On a more serious note, I can understand the logic in a way but for trades to happen at some point, teams have to have a conversation. Those conversations set the tone. I am pretty sure the GMs know what teams are serious and what teams aren’t’ at this point. Playing waiting games won’t help. The serious ones will make the moves and pay the price. The less serious ones will say they were waiting out the market and weren’t’ willing to pay the price. Not really any different than any other year other than how it is framed…

Wow I thought the trades would be coming rapidly Monday, is the SSM - Gens snag holding things up 🤔
I am surprised by the lack of trades at this point as well. I know Saginaw had one that was suppose to be done before the break but couldn’t get it done and then was suppose to be finalized this past weekend but still not done. It’s not as exciting as the other rumors floating around mainly because Saginaw doesn’t have much to trade. At face value looks like a deal to get some picks so maybe they can go get some Defensive help. Just not sure what Saginaw can get for the people they have on the block (Hay, Bishop, Gervais, Sima, PJ, Glavin). Might have to throw in a young forward like Cloutier. The challenge is nobody knows when Igor is going to play so you can’t trade Cloutier or a Mangione until you figure out if he is going to play. First game was suppose to be the 28th but right before the break went back to San Jose and still not back. Just weird. Not sure how anyone gets excited about the names they are shopping.
