With the trade deadline approaching who are buyers sellers or stand Pat.
At this point in time Kingston might be the biggest buyer at the deadline this season with their assets remaining in draft capital and with the way their season is going they would be the likely team to put all their cards on the table to make noise in the east.

As for the west Kitchener and London would be the likely teams that could be in the mix along with Windsor who would be likely looking to add at deadline time. Beyond that there's a lot of hockey left and a lot of teams still fighting for positioning in either conference to say any others would be in the race to load up at deadline time is still unknown. Beyond those I've already listed.

Kitchener has extra bodies up front, a little below normal in draft picks, and abundance of flyer picks in the USHL and other places.
As for tradeable assets they may have the top goalie in the O in Jackson Parsons but hs an O.A., along with another OA who could get traded in 6'-6" Trent Swick. On defence they have a rugged guy in Matthew Andonovski.
Expectations for assets coming back would draftpicks and 16 or 17 yr old players. I also suspect they would like a serviceable 18 or 19 yr old who would be a good candidate to play as an O.A.

Petes, Battalion, 67’s in the east. In terms of buyers in the east I could see any team not named those 3 buying to some degree. Sudbury should sell but likely won’t
The Petes will stand pat unless they get an offer that is an overpay. I’m think we see a much improved Petes team in the second half. They will not likely make the playoffs but I predict they will have better second half of the season.

Petes have nothing of significant value to sell. Improving in the 2nd half is almost a given considering they are currently sporting a .212 win%, but I understand what you are trying to say.

Personally, if it were me, I would have the Petes in the BUYER category. Clearly not buying at the top of the conference but I think adding a couple experienced players if they can find them cheaper, especially some ‘06s, would be of benefit. The younger players need a little more support. I’d like to see the Petes make a couple moves like that. I think ti will go a long way for them int he standings as well as help their future.

Two 2nds and two 3rds in this coming draft with how young their roster is won’t really help. I would suggest trading one of the 3rds. I would also be in favour of moving someone like Addy if they can get a good return in picks. Help balance out the ages a bit.

My biggest concern for the Petes is their ‘07 group. They have Cameron and the three they added last year at the deadline and that’s about it. I think all four of those players line up as potential OAs. I don’t think any of them are considerably impactful as potential elite players. IF they can find a taker for one of them and cash in and turn those assets into multiple players, it may be good.

Clearly Lethbridge is a buyer in the WHL!

Damn! Those WHL trades are crazy! Two 1sts plus other picks/players for Yager….
while 7th in the conference; not knowing anything of the roster construction, love that!

Who is this years Klaw type? Would be nice to add a heavy forward up front who can score

That was an OA situation. There will be a handful of that type of player as an OA but currently don’t have an OA spot open. If you are looking at 19 year olds, the price is likley not going to be an 8th round pick…

True I think the Knights would be looking for an 05 that can come back as an OA

I think the knights will be able to exploit the NCAA rule so it is possible any holes next year can/will be filled that way. I am not too sure they will care about the OA slots. They are relatively cheaply filled. I think the Knights will benefit greatly by the new NCAA rule. They will start to draft more strategically as well.

Soo should be fairly big sellers.

Pretty sure Gibson (19 y/o) has played his last game in red and white. Suspect he goes to Kingston after WJC.
Marco Mignosa might also be made available, pretty good 19 year old scoring RW for a team to add.
Noel Nordh (IMPORT) might garner some interest as an upgrade at the import spot.
Pretty sure they would take calls about Owen Allard (OA) as well.
At this point I think they keep Schenkel (OA), but if someone blows them away with an offer then giddy-up.

Of course, Raftis will probably prove he is yet again the smartest person in the room by buying at the deadline...

No they don’t only guy I could see moving is Matijcek but won’t be for much if he did. Out of the 07’s only 2 guys I’d keep right now is Young and Cameron. I’d look to move Addy for picks or maybe a player on another team who needs a change of scenery as well. Give Taylor another season the tools are there to be a impactful OHL player if he utilizes them right

I think a bit of a retool would be great for the Petes if they can pull it off. I know there was a lot of positivity surrounding all the acquisitions last year during the sell off. It looked great on paper for the future but taking a deeper dive into the ‘07 group and there really isn’t a lot of substance to build around.

It is really tough to effectively sell off three full years of players (buying and then selling). It will be a tough road for the Petes to regain footing and be competitive again. Juggling the development of players with surrounding them with players that help develop them can be a struggle at the best of times. I hope they can figure out the path in short order. No one wants to see the Petes in the basement for 3 seasons (other than Gens fans of course).

Mignosa and Gibson would be nice additions to the Knights. Bug price though I’d guess

Unger is good but he’s not elite. He put up good goalie numbers for a great team but not great numbers. Top half for sure. Probably top 7ish, give or take. Strong enough to backstop a contender? Yes. Strong enough to carry a contender? Probably not.

Goalies of that calibre in the OHL usually go for around a 2nd and 5th. That’s my read on it anyway.

Yes also has experience from winning the WHL last year which is very valuable

I get that. But, again, it is more of a Chris Osgoode situation as opposed to a Patrick Roy situation. I wouldn’t lend a lot of the trade value towards the goalie.
