Cernak left the game.

Hearing on Weds with the league...

Michael Bunting will have a hearing with the NHL Department of Player Safety on Wednesday.
The Toronto Maple Leafs forward is facing discipline for an illegal check to the head and interference against Tampa Bay Lightning defenseman Erik Cernak on Tuesday.
The incident occurred at 15:40 of the second period of the Maple Leafs' 7-3 loss in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference First Round at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto. Bunting received a match penalty on the play.
The following grounds are being considered for supplemental discipline: illegal check to the head and interference. However, the Department of Player Safety retains the right to make adjustments to the infraction upon review.

I genuinely don't believe his intention was to elbow Cernak in the head, but he did
I agree, he thought he was lined up for a shoulder on shoulder and went for it like that, but didn't realize Cernak was behind him, whiffed and then came the elbow on the follow through right to the face. That's why you have to be more sure of yours and your opponents body positions when throwing a hit.

Especially a hit that should have been interference regardless of if you got him in the head or not
