Yup, that's me. He did his job tonight...and still sucks. I'm looking forward to a goaltending change in the off-season (even if he remains with the team), but am hoping he can do his best as he's who they've got until then.
Yep, I have no problem acknowledging when he’s had a good game and makes a big save. The glove save he made was likely his best of the season and saved them from OT.

I can’t fault him on any of the ones he gave up last night

Last night's game was pretty fun in retrospect once the heart rate calmed down. They really didn't give up much at evens in the third. I think the only goal they really should've given up was the one that Skinner stopped.

I am a little bit sad that they weren't able to add a top six forward though. I feel like that would've really taken the energy in the building to the next level.

Special teams staff needs to swallow their pride and change it up.

PK system makes no sense for the personnel that this team has. This team feels like it should prioritize not allowing cross seam passes, not running a system that allows them more frequently. What am I missing?
I hear you.
Lanes for a cross seam pass are there far too often. Against a team with high quality players its easy pickings.

How was the second game of Max Jones?
He continued the physicality and on one play could've been sprung into the zone if Kapanen had his head up but instead went a mile offside. He deserves to stay in the lineup if he keeps the physicality up. Hell even Connor Brown threw a big hit. Hitting is contagious.

Yeah I think he had a decent start but hes been dropping for awhile. The whole team has really. But being a young player, you would think he would get better as season goes. Judging by ice time, I think the coaching staff will push Klingberg once he’s healthy
Emberson is basically a rookie (only 30 games last season)and has already played double the number of NHL games this season. Rookies tend to fade as the season goes on because they have never experienced the grind of a full NHL 82 game season. Now that Emberson has played enough games to avoid Group 6 free agency, the Oilers can rest him down the stretch, which would also get Stecher and Klingberg some games.

Not to nit pik but more so to throw shade at Spector’s tweet, did anyone notice how slow that cross crease pass was on the big Skinny glove save?
I’m glad he stopped it but that pass was like 2mph, Skinny is still on the right side of the net and the only movement comes from his arm. Dodged a bullet there to be sure.

The first 40 minutes of this game was this team being emotionally involved in the game.
The last 20 minutes was this team sliding back into old habits.

IMO the first 40 minutes was impressive enough to give us a glimpse of what we will see in April.
This is exactly why I was happy about the Jones and Frederic trade.
It will get better with Frederic in the lineup....he is a better version of Pat Maroon.

Walman brought what I had hoped he would bring. The man moves the puck really well (that Hyman pass...amazing) and he skates even better. Great addition by Bowman.

So many players were invested in this game. Best game this season by Brown. Hyman looked like a different player. McDavid looked much better as well.
As a matter of fact there were very few players who werent at their best in this game.

April cant come soon enough.

I’m not going to get cocky but I only noticed Rantanen on the PP last night lol
it was his first game with a brand new team, I thought he looked great when you consider that fact. I'm so bummed that they didn't have the assets to make that trade happen. Rantanen would of been amazing on Draisaitl's wing for the next 8 years.

That 3rd period just reminds me of what an epic fail it was for us to not get a decent goaltender. Great, he made one spectacular save. Goalies make multiples of those against us in most games. We got lucky AF that Oettinger laid an egg, otherwise it’s another loss.

Even with the big save against Rantanen, Stu gave up one goal above expected.

I hope someone makes me eat my words when we hoist the cup, but I don’t see it happening with Stu in net. He’ll allow a stinker that goes through him, just like the Reinhart goal last yr. Of course, that assumes Picks comes in and saves his ass when he becomes a sieve again for a week earlier in the playoffs.

I agree.
Rantanen is such a smart and dangerous player. The thought of him on the 2nd line...that would make this team virtually impossible to defend against.
