Imo the Sabres need to make a trade they find painful. That means one or two of their core guys has to go for depth. This cannot continue along the same path year after year. Their core isn’t a bunch of inexperienced players.
I think they are screwed as long as their owner wants to moonlight as the GM

At this point you can't help but feel bad for Sabres fans. I've never seen the Sabres players look so souless like their existence was pain.

Honestly what do you even do from here?
We've been here before.
As a Sabres faithful, I've found a nice bottle of Old No.7 to curl up with by the fire barrel in the alley off Seneca Street worked well. Of course, it helped having the meanest most bitter look of I'll commit violence to keep the few transient Sabres fans eyeing up my bottl away. They still have hope, the look in my face tells them to abandon any hope.

Hope this helps.....

the owner clearly wants the team to suck. The question is why? What is he getting out of having a non competitive, totally irrelevant team. What is his end game here.

Get the revenue sharing money. That's it. He doesn't care about anything else.

He's turned the Sabres into the NHL's answer to the Pittsburgh Pirates: a farm team for actual professional sports franchises

Ironically, he's not making the wrong decision here. When the Sabres do play a full 60, they are a scoring machine that is tough to play against. Yes they have 0 consistency in doing so, but they are still a young team.
The spankings will continue until they learn to clean their room daily. Sometimes, tough love is necessary. As for the playoffs, don't expect it and you won't be disappointed? Just a thought.
