Buffalo Sabres have lost 11 in a row.

As much as those two years after the lockout were great for Buffalo, it was a forgone conclusion both Briere and Drury were gonna bounce the minute free agency hit. They were not gonna stay.

I think Drury wanted to go to the Rangers no matter what, but Briere would have stayed. Regier had a weird policy to not negotiate during the season which hurt us. Also Golisano was incredibly cheap (remember this was only a few years after the Rigas - Adelphia nonsense), so I think we never really matched the deal from the Flyers.

I would much prefer they do nothing than do the wrong thing and set us back years again. This team was playing good early in the season and even during some of the loss streak.

Get Dahlin back into the lineup and accept that if he's not carrying the team they arent going to get many wins even when playing reasonably well

For the love of god do not trade any of the well rounded players who can drive a line (again)

Who are these well rounded players that can drive a line you are referring to? I'm seeing Tage Thompson, and that's it (and he's not that well rounded).

The Sabres don't even have any forwards in the same tier as Eichel, Reinhart or ROR right now to trade.

All jokes aside, I really feel bad and want to see stuff like this again.

Not sure what needs to happen though.

The earlier goal by Drury to tie it with 7 seconds left was the kind of magic champions have. I will never understand how those Sabre teams didn't win it all. They are easily the best "Champions that never were" in the last 20 years. They could beat you 7-6 or 1-0. Didn't matter

Carolina is fortunate the entire Sabre defense was gone by game 7 of the ECF

I have a lot of sympathy for Buffalo fans. They're a very tiny market, but still seem to support their teams very actively.

At least they have the Bills to fall back on.

I got to brainstorm a way to make... 3-4-5 Billion so I can buy this team... (Win mega millions, drop it all on/in NVIDA and wait 5 years...x10 return.)

(Every hockey fans wish)

I'm actually really sure of myself I could do a better job than what has gone on the past 20 and I mean it. I think about 70% of people walking given the same resources could do a better job as owner.

When it comes to getting the closest to winning a cup, I feel like that was our year way more than the 1999 skate in the crease fiasco. Yea, that call was rough, but Dallas was a powerhouse. Buffalo was, when healthy, IMO leagues better than Carolina or Edmonton.

Better than everyone. Watching those 2005 and 2006 teams was like watching that SpongeBob Victory song. A masterpiece without rehearsal and practice. Hell they scored goals by accident. And when they wanted to score they used telepathy. Easily the highest IQ set of forwards I've ever seen. There's no way they practiced the things they did. They just did it and everyone was figuring it out as they went along like Patrick Star suddenly realizing he knows how to play drums

Feel bad for Buffalo fans. Rotten ownership/management is so hard to overcome. They really do deserve better, hope the fans who still go to games wear palm tree shirts or something else to protest this nonsense.

Basically Thompson and Tuch, and Zucker on the lower end. Benson looks to become that player. Mittelstadt used to be.

Zucker is on a one year deal. He is going to be gone. Thompson and Tuch aren’t good in their own zone at all.

FWIW, I haven’t seen anybody advocating Thompson. Tuch is an interesting one because he is a UFA after next season. I could see him getting traded if we aren’t committed to giving him another long term deal.

If Im Buffalo I just tank for the rest of the year and shoot for another 1st overall.
They are tanking, but not intentionally. Byram is likely the guy they move who has good value. He needs a new contract come summer 2025. The guys who have those long term deals might be moved but it’s doubtful unless another team has a long term deal they want to move.

Even the Bills, they got lucky and landed their McDavid/Bedard/Whoever in Allen to buld around and its paying off. I wouldnt credit the pegulas for that. They wouldve screwed it up if they could.

To be fair, the Bills made the playoffs the year before Allen was selected. They didn't get a first overall pick, they in a way found their Kucherov in a guy who fell to 7th.

As a pretty patient fan... this stretch has been heartbreaking. You can tell Ruff is dialoguing the basics during the game with these guys, telling them to calm down, simplify. Problem is, these young guys just dont see that adjustment enough from vets to understand how to do it themselves. Zucker has had a few good moments, but Thompson and Tuch aren't your true go to veterans. They need a Kreider, a Mark Stone, a Pavelski talent that everyone sees turn it up when the game is tight and actually has the skill to make plays.

Adams' tenure is over. If he isn't gone by Friday, I'll be shocked. It's just unacceptable from him to hold the presser he did, and then not do anything to address this team when they started to freefall.

Oh trust me, I never credited the Pegulas for any of that. I can't stand them in any capacity. I agree fully that they would've screwed it up if it was their choice.

Why? So we can select a 3rd 1st overall LHD?
Every 1OA, they started tryng too soon after. Look at the Oilers. Took 5 essentially and 2/5 really hit. Sabres hit on 2/3 (Eichel/Dahlin) and mismanaged them. But this team would look drastically different today with Celbrini or Bedard there also.

Eichel wasn't a first overall. Also we didn't hit there. We lost the lottery and lost McDavid. Eichel is a great player and I wish we still had him, but we didn't hit on him, he was the consolation prize.

You don't think they take James Hagens?
We didn't take berniers despite already having Dahlin and needing Centres. I understand logically we should take Hagens but I have less than zero faith in this management group making the right pick even at 1st overall. Plus we'll likely lose the lottery anyways.

I don't know how you fix the situation there, so I defer to Sabres fans. I remember when they were a better club and would consistently seem to have our number... Vanek, Roy, Hecht. Hated to see them on the schedule. But by this point, Sabres fans could use some luck. I hope they don't do anything too drastic with their young talent.

I think either Power or Byram move. Probably depends on what the return would be for either one, and who the Sabres like better for whatever they are trying to build towards.

They are basically the same guy and kind of redundant at this point.

The Bills drafting Allen would be like the Sabres drafting Cozens at 7th overall, and it just so happens he's as good as McDavid (maybe even better). It was an incredible stroke of luck.

I wonder if they plan to trade ByRam and replace him in the draft.
