Just bought a New book about the current Sabres

It's been a hot minute, but I think that book was about a small school team coming together and understanding teamwork and sacrifice to punch above their weight and beat bigger schools. The Sabres are more like that one Screech Owls story where Nish spends the whole time yelling, "I'm going to hurl!" except the Sabres don't win a high-profile foreign tournament with Dmitri pulling a Michigan at the end.

All jokes aside, I really feel bad and want to see stuff like this again.

Not sure what needs to happen though.

Agreed, it’s a great hockey town and deserves to succeed.

I’m not sure how they fix it, but it obviously starts from to top down so the management team is what should get the axe first. How long has this current regime been in charge?

So funny how Jason Botterill was given like 5 minutes and he was fired but Kevyn Adams can just coast after trading Eichel, Mittelstadt and making the team worse than it was in 2020. Granted Botts did deserve to get fired just for hiring Ralph Krueger, but still.

2020 Sabres: Eichel, Reinhart, Dahlin, Thompson, Montour, Mittelstadt, Rodrigues. The core WAS ALL THERE. They just needed a real coach and to spend on some role players.

Does Adams deserve to get fired just for bringing back Ruff?

I'm a Sabres fan and I don't blame Ruff. It's on Kevyn Adams for assembling the team, Terry Pegula for 14 years of meddling and hiring the wrong person, and most of all this collection of players for so many reasons.

Even the guys who were playing well earlier in the season like Tuch and Peterka look useless now. This is bad. I mean…it’s a collection of some pretty good/useful players that is just horrendous together.

I know some Sabres fans are like “screw it, bring up all the guys on the farm” - but I’d keep every prospect even remotely worth building with (or using as a positive asset), down in Rochester for as long as humanly possible to avoid getting this stench on them. It feels like every “rebuild around a new core” in Buffalo gets worse and worse results.

Their whole roster relies way too much on young skill players to do everything. If only they drafted a two-way forward like Brandon Hagel I think they would be doing much better.

I liked Brandon Hagel as a prospect and like him even better now as an NHL-er. Problem is the Sabres probably would've never developed him properly anyway.

Thing I don't get is to me it seems like so many good players who force their way off the team or leave tend to do so much better in new surroundings (E. Kane, Eichel, ROR, Ullmark, I'm sure I'm forgetting some). And when their players finally do break out they aren't able to maintain that same production (Tage, Cozens, Tuch). I feel like Mittlestadt is one of the few who did, which I guess is how they got Byram for him.

But like... on paper I feel like Buffalo's roster is good. I don't think this roster should be 2 points out of last place, they should be fighting for playoffs at least
