GDT: Buffalo Sabres at Ottawa Senators - 7PM - TSN5 / RDS2 - 4th and Final Sabre Rattling Rigmarole with the JBD Juggernauts (no Brady)

Loool, you couldn't be more wrong. Ullmark basically stole December for us.
No he didn’t. He did what he had to do. He played good. And we played good.

He gave up October where he and forsberg were both dog shit while the guys in front of them were playing elite defence.

We had three PP’s in the first and produced one single shot on net. Ullmark was as blind as a bat and gave Buffalo the first goal of the game. We then responded by playing the parameter for the rest of the first period.

We didn’t deserve shit.
Swift win thought we were good under Dj smith

Also cozens tonight was the cozens I was expecting. Just an oaf who is kinda just an obstacle for people to get around and looks like his give a shit meter is low. But it was only one game

They showed a clip of Green talking to Stutzle on the bench after the first PP. I wonder what he told him because it sure as hell didn't work as the game progressed.

Let's see how the team does against the Lightning who are comfortably in a playoff spot. This home heavy schedule could turn sour real quick if the team doesn't perform and the fans start to bring the negative energy from the stands. Gotta keep the faith. We're in a playoff position for a reason. Need to start playing the right way again.

You think we're worse under Travis Green.
No I’ve been raving about Travis green all year. I admitted I was wrong about him THREE GAMES into the season. And haven’t turned back since he’s done a great Job with them. But I think the 4 nations tourney gave all the kids a reminder of what vacation feels like.

Cozens has been great overall but I think the worst 2 games he played was this one and the last one against Buffalo.

I don’t know if he’s in his head playing against that team or if he doesn’t play as hard against his old buddies but he’s looked way better in other games. This one was his worst one for sure. Not worried at all but yea.. that was not his best one.

Reminder: Montreal got Suzuki for Pacioretty and we received Brännström for Stone.

Only hardcore Sens fans really despise Pierre Dorion, because they know how much he ruined our fun for at least a decade. This rebuild could have been so good.

They were praising him on Montreal’s radio last week and how much of an incredible job he did with the Sens. Dorion was saying some Sens fans were telling him that. Damn casual fans, they don’t know shit.

It’s funny how much people romanticize other teams because they aren’t watching and dissecting their flaws every game.

We’ve got a long way to go but the way people talk about this team you’d think they were Chicago.

Chicago are not in the 8th season of their rebuild…

People get way too emotional and are incapable of looking at things rationally. We've had quite a few late game comebacks and clutch late period and OT goals this season.

It’s actually when we look at things rationally that this team is a bit unattractive… this team is entering the peak of its rebuild and have a +0 goal differential

It’s not even really about that, it’s the way they lose, the way they can’t score for extended periods… they just seem so powerless

Yeah just one. But the cozens we saw tonight was the norm for 2 + years. The games where he played well were outliers.

This is why I love having access to stats. It helps calling out liars like you.

December stats for goalies. Ullmark was miles ahead of everyone else in the league on goals saved above average:

I think this is it. How many times this season did we have a “no goals in _ periods” counter?

We went almost six full periods without a goal against Columbus, Pittsburgh, and Buffalo. Three if the worst defensive teams in the league.

Is that normal?

Yeah he played well! Very well. Go look at his game before that where he was sinking this team. It evens out. Just because he played well doesn’t mean the team in front of him wasn’t playing well lol. The whole team was rocking.

"Peak of its rebuild".

My brother in Christ... our best forward and best defenseman are 22 and 23 years old and are barely scratching the surface of their potential.

Well on paper yeah. This is a team that will struggle to score when also asked to play solid defence. And even sometimes when they’re cheating for offense they will not score lol.

There’s no firepower regardless of what Pierre Dorion told us

I'm really worried about Ullmark's consistency issues long term. He's had just as many awful games as good ones and when he's bad, he's really bad. Doesn't feel like a true #1 to me.
Yes that’s another thing. He has good games, but I’ve seen tonight’s game way too mamy times from him. Way too many times for a 8.25 mil goalie at least. We all pretty much knew the game was over after that garbage first goal he gave up.

Check out his playoff numbers lol. Or don’t if you don’t want to feel sick

The math is strongly against the Sens missing the playoffs, but the vibes would suggest it's realistic.

It's not hard to see a path. They're going to lose the next 2 to Tampa and Florida - that's pretty much a lock, especially if Tkachuk can't go. Then you have a home-and-home with Columbus - those game will decide their fate. Then a game against the Habs they will definitely lose.

So here's my scorching hot take - the season will come down to the final game against Carolina. And they lose.

I think our goaltending is better and Sanderson has blossomed into a real #1 dman.

Oof. You may be down on this team right now but come on man. Sure, this team could score in bunches under DJ, but it was literally unwatchable on defense. Like, hilariously bad. Night and day in our zone with Green. Now it's about finding ways of finishing on their scoring chances on a nightly basis.

Meanwhile leafs can pay their guys nothing and get solid performances. And the Habs.

Ullmark having a major crashout since 4 Nations.

9-5-1 record, but an .892 SV% and 3.62 GAA.
