I think the tricky part with the depth guys will be finding ones who can fill in when needed, but aren't going to get claimed by other teams. That's where the lack of defensive prospects is really starting to hurt. Any good depth Dman is likely going to be a waiver claim by another team if they're serviceable enough to be a 7 or 8.Top 4 - Dahlin, Power, Samuelsson, [TBD1]
5-6-7 - Lyubushkin, Stillman, [Bryson/Jokiharju]
8/9/10/11 - [RyJo], Clague, [TBD2], [TBD3]
If they get RyJo signed, that fills a big slot on the D depth chart.
Obviously the upgrade in the top 4 is the most pressing need to fill, along with the hardest role to fill.
When it comes to the depth guys, I wonder if Phillipe Myers would be a possibility? I can't imagine TB would want a lot for him given their cap situation.

Myers could be a possibility given that he's buried right now, but his extension also has a much more manageable cap hit next season making him more likely to be claimed if he were sent down.

Todd’s son!
One of three. The non-twin transferred from Michigan State to Arizona State before this season. One of two, the other signed his ATO with Bridgeport today.
Jake Livingstone
School: Minnesota State
Position: Defence
Shot: Right
Height: Six-foot-four
Weight: 205 pounds
NHL Projection: (6D) – (5D) / 2-way / Distributor / Second unit power-play / Second unit penalty-kill
NHL teams are always on the lookout for right-shot D. Livingstone projects as a two-way defender who can slot into one of the power-play units. He sees the ice very well and distributes accordingly. Livingstone is a big body, but he isn’t overly physical. I refer to players like him as “bumpers” not “bangers.” He has a good release, from distance, in the offensive zone and the ability to slide through back-door seams on his weak side. Overall, I’m more comfortable describing him as a distributor instead of a shooter.
Here’s my report from recent viewings of Livingstone:

Future Considerations: College free agents to watch, and what Levi brings to Sabres
Teams looking to bolster their prospect pool without spending draft capital often turn to the NCAA. Jason Bukala takes a look at some of the best college free-agents who could join NHL clubs.www.sportsnet.ca
Reminds me of what I said above.
He's big but not a bruiser. Hirose is the takeout guy on that pair.
I want a team full of goons at this point.I've only seen bits and pieces of Livingstone......but from everything that's said about him, he sure strikes me as a less-talented version of Power.
Smooth skating, good passing, big but not physical, plays mostly positionally sound.......
we need one Samuelson clone.. so the team can survive injury and keep playing their game and elevate the others on the ice. What about gostisbehere ? Orlov ? Dumba ? Severson? Graves? Mayfield? Clifton
Myers is not a top 4 Dman, not the type of Dman we need and yes if there they should draft Reinbacher.think they try draft a D this draft . What about Sandin Pellikka or Reinbacher in the draft and then trade for myers for cheap and sign Johnson?
Dahlin Samuelsson
Power Myers
Johnson Lyubuskhin
What about gostisbehere ? Orlov ? Dumba ? Severson? Graves? Mayfield? Clifton
Then it seem best to draft ? Or trade for a good younger D ?Ghost seems redundant since his best asset is his offensive game in more offensive deployment. They already have Dahlin and Power in this role.
Orlov's 34 and seems outside their own age window.
Dumba is an option. Since blowing out his pectoral a few years ago, his play is not what it once was offensively.
Clifton is my preference if they dip into UFA. He meets style, handedness and the team's age stance. He's fierce.
Graves game in Jersey has evolved since he left Colorado and Severson is a low-key very good defenseman. Both have been pushed down the depth chart with the Devils, though I could see them bringing one back next year.
Mayfield seems like he's aging out of the team's age comments since he's already 30 and will turn 31 early in the next season.
Then it seem best to draft ? Or trade for a good younger D ?
Jay McKee and Brad May were my two favorite Sabres players. Both Niagara Falls Thunder alumniThey need someone like Jay Mckee or Rhett Warrener back there. A guy who won't be pushed around, will throw the body, but is really solid defensively. He doesn't even need to put up a lot of points. As it is, they are WAY too soft on the back end right now. If they ever do make the playoffs they are gonna get run out of the building.
