Byram, too, for that matter.So Peterka and Rossi have nearly identical salary projections. That seems to mirror what people on HF have been saying.

I wonder if a 3rd team gets involved with Peterka going to MN, Rossi to said team, and other pieces to Buffalo from a team like Chicago or Pittsburgh .
My pondering was based off Russo’s comments today confirming our interest in Peterka, but saying he was unsure of Buffalo’s interest in Rossi.I don't think it's this complicated. They want a 2C behind Norris to bump McLeod down, Rossi also has familiarity with Quinn, who they really want to unlock here.

I like Faber alot...enjoy him.If Faber is scoring 50+ points, Buffalo is adding significantly to Thompson. Faber’s primary function is defensive ability. Scoring 50+ along with that would make him a top 5 dman in the league. Those are never traded for wingers… Even the 40+ goal scoring kind.
Unsure in the sense that he just doesn't know one way or the other, or unsure in the sense that he's pretty sure they don't have interest?

This is not meant as a knock on Rossi, but I don’t know that he’s a fit.
I get the depth chart argument but when you list the qualities the Sabres need most you come up with things like size, snarl, experience, leadership and defensive acumen.
I don’t think of any of those things when I think of Rossi;
I’m not sure I completely agree with this. I do think he absolutely plays larger than his size, but there were a noticeable amount of plays where he just looked plain lazy on the backcheck.Despite his size, Rossi does go to the dirty areas, he competes, and he has a 2-way game that I believe will continue to grow. The only steal l pick is size and average NHL speed.
Everyone needs those most in a 6'2 220lb frame, but those players aren't common. But when it comes to what you're giving up to get him in this hypothetical scenario, Peterka doesn't have those either.
AHAHAHAHA!!!!If you want Tuch, open the wallet. From Min it is Rossi, your first, and your best prospect. He is all around a top 10 winger in the NHL. Shorthanded, blocked shots, dawg on the forecheck.
Buffalo has Kulich who played fine as a rookie playing center. They also have I stlund and Helenius in thr AHL.I don't think it's this complicated. They want a 2C behind Norris to bump McLeod down, Rossi also has familiarity with Quinn, who they really want to unlock here.
Peterka can get you that in a trade, rossi likely cant.Everyone needs those most in a 6'2 220lb frame, but those players aren't common. But when it comes to what you're giving up to get him in this hypothetical scenario, Peterka doesn't have those either.
Peterka for Rossi makes sense. Don't complicate it
? Peterka is one of the worst defensive players to ever grace the ice.It does not make sense for a Sabres team trying to get bigger, meaner and better defensively.
It is a lateral move where they are probably giving up the better player and definitely giving up the better talent.
And if they really wanted to upgrade the middle at the expense of the wing, they have a smarter move available simply by shifting back Tage.
Nothing wrong at all with a Thompson, Norris, McLeod, Krebs spine.
