Seravalli: Buffalo may not have a choice but to trade Peterka

No chance we give you a guy who's played with Stuzle and could possibly blow up for scraps from your roster.
Even if you don't think that deal is fair, I don't understand how you'd remotely come to the conclusion that they're scraps. I also understand the Sabres want actual roster players and not prospects/picks.

You’re offering a 34yo and a 3rd liner for a top line player coming off his ELC. It’s bad. You know it.

Why would the Sabres only be interested in a D that is U27? Most D, except the super elite (Makar, Hughes) are entering their best years at 27/28.
Actually, that is the age when most players are leaving their best years, at least offensively.

Would the Sabres be interested in Zibinejad as part of a deal for JJP? Sports radio out here (Van) talking about ZiB moving and Toronto interested.

Well, ignoring the fact of Zibanejad's full NMC and Buffalo's total disinterest in doing business with NYR...He's a 32 year old coming off his worst season by both counting and possessions stats signed for 5 more years at $8.5 million. Seems like the Sabres would be better off giving Peterka that money, and I'm not the biggest JJP fan.

GM's comment all the time on how hard it is to make a "Hockey" trade. Both Adams and Guerin are finding out that there just aren't young players of equal value readily available in trade. Most teams want to keep their young, productive, cost controlled players. Here on HFB, we love draft picks and unproven prospects, but GM's(especially ones under pressure like Guerin and Adams) look at things differently. They need good, productive, young players that can start next season in exchange for the similar players that they are sending out.

The one thing that BUF can do, ultimately, is wait JJP out. He is a RFA, and ultimately, the player has to sign, sit, or sign an OS. Sitting is stupid, and Sabres will likely match any OS unless it is crazy money. Not many teams are in a position to do that.

JJP and his agent can squawk all they want, but if BUF can't get what they want in trade then they should just keep him. What's he gonna do, play poorly and sink his value?

Maybe a bigger deal that includes ZiB and KA Miller?

Why don’t Adams and Geurin just swap JJP and Rossi?

That poster is obsessed with age thinking anyone over that age is moments away from obsolescence.
If I'm trading Byram or peterka I'm not getting players on the downside of their career or 1 yr rentals.

Sone on here are di focused on just making thr playoffs but not being good enough yo actually win yhr cup.

Jensen is 34 yrs old.

Data supports significant drop off occurring with nany players when they are 30+ the question is when thf big drop occurs. With these players I'd only go 3 yrs nax.

Sure yet there is nuance to all of those data points. Should we go back to your takes on Ekholm?

So all the Buffalo fans talk all this trash about how the Wild are backed into a corner with a disgruntled player in Rossi. LMFAO

Something about glass hoses and throwing stones….
Difference is your GM is playing hardball with a 60 point center trying to lowball him into oblivion. He is creating the issue.
