First game I've been able to make it down from NOVA this year. A little sloppy in parts, but couldn't ask for much more.

Hopefully tomorrow night will be just as good.

Yup. Was thinking the same thing during the game. He needed the same chance that Ryan has been getting.

Speaking of, Ryan is looking more like a legit NHL player every time he plays. He and Skinner have some sort of mind-meld **** going on, where they just put the puck into the space where the other is about to appear. And when he's not with Skinner, he's making fewer of the blatant mistakes that shorten the careers of most AHL callups. If what we see is what we get with this guy, we've done pretty well in pulling him out of the Euro/minors veteran scrap heap.

Crow eaten.

RF needed to look under some rocks to find depth and talent for this team. He learned dumpster diving from JR, but he's impressed me with some of his choices and his willingness to take some chances on guys like Ryan/Dahlbeck/Rattie. They don't all work out but you have to at least try, and waiting for JR to try sometimes drove me mad.

Can Ryan maintain? Can Ward keep it up? We look like a playoff team right now, but a couple of injuries could knock us right back down.

My crow comes from Ward. I talked some harsh smack over the off season and early this year. He's stepped up huge during this run. Even with his gaffe tonight he stole the show when he had to. Rf won't make any moves if we stay relatively hot like this, and I can't say I disagree.

My biggest takeaway from this game is that they really didn't play all that well, and they won Pretty easily. That's the type of thing good teams do.

I heard, I believe from coaches corner, there has been damn near a player revolt on the Montreal roster about the role of standing in front of the net on the PP because of how wild Shea Weber's slapshot is. People catching pucks up high, getting hurt in practice, etc. Guys have a responsibility to keep those pucks below waist level.
With Weber`s shot you never know, it could be a great goal or even out of the play, and Faulk is starting to do same thing lately. I enjoy it lol

I wasn't as harsh but I was firmly in the "move on" camp. That said, rumor is Ward did even more off season training this summer than in past years, so there's always that. I do believe that GMRF still ends up trying to find a viable back up. Not sure if/when Leighton get's a game, but I'd suggest sometime soon. Our Wardo may break otherwise. Either that or he just plays the remaining 40 games...

I definitely didn't think Ward would have this level of play left in him, even if it stopped right now and was only for half a season. So I'll take some crow as well.

However, I still think if we could have found a different direction to move in, it would have been better for the future. I was always of the mind that bridging to any prospect in the system and expecting them to be ready in two years is dumb. You're better getting the best guy you can and then worrying about the prospect when they actually develop. And perhaps they'll still look to go this route by bringing in one of the many goalies that seem sure to be available this summer. In the mean time, hopefully Ward can keep this up all of this year and next year.

And I still think the schedule sets up pretty well to have Ward play most, not all, of the games between now and the end of February. Two days off between several games, All Star Break, and bye week.

Why Skinner doesn't wear "A" anymore?

Great move from Lindholm against Ristolainen for the third goal,

Skinner was supposed to have a home "A" and Rask had an away "A"

They kept that up until they let Skinner wear an "A" in Toronto for his home town game and it's been prettty random ever since

It's always good when we beat Buff.

Skinner and McGinn had solid games. Had to watch it on the replay though.

I passed out early last night and slept 12 hours.

Although I didn't catch this game, that was my impression as well from what I read/heard about it. And in the CBJ game, I came away with "Ward played one of his weaker games of the season, and they still won".

They took it to BUF for the majority of the game, but the Sabres had some 2-on-1s that Cam had to be rock solid against.

Looking at the shots, it looks like the Sabres carried the play in the 1st? And then the Canes from there on out? or were the shots not indicative of the play?

I thought the first few shifts were their best start in a couple of games. After the Slavin turnover and goal against it killed any momentum.
