I’d just be surprised they’d pick a receiver whose main issue is catching after living through last season. They’ll take Oliver or trade down.

We just signed like 8 offensive players in the last week. They will go heavy on D in the draft and I will be shocked if they don't.

They added a lot of depth guys to what was a historically bad O last season. With possible exception of Morse none of these guys are stars.

While I agree they should look to get defensive depth with mid-late picks - or even unearth D starters as they have done recently with later picks - they still desperately need star power on O which is why I think hope the first couple of picks are used accordingly.

You guys are both wrong... Jack Fox with #9!

This organization/management is all in on Josh Allen, and I feel like they are going to load up their offense as much as possible for him in this draft.

No Redskins? There D this year will have 5 or 6 starters from Alabama plus a couple more if they draft them.
I imagine that isn't a complete list. Syracuse had 26 of 32 teams represented at their pro day. I'm guessing that list is just the HC and GMs that attended. Which should be longer for Alabama.

I know you want star power, but I am very happy with the offense right now. I prefer quality players from top to bottom, rather than a couple of big names and not much else. Obviously to have both is ideal, but the team is much improved over last year and I think there are "stars" already on the team that only need time or better teammates to shine.

QB:
Allen should develop and benefit from upgrades elsewhere. Star = Allen?
RB1:
McCoy should have better blocking. (still a...) Star = McCoy?
RB2:
Gore will be a tremendous asset to Allen.
TE: Kroft is a better blocker than Clay; Croom a better receiver. What's to come in the draft? Star = draft pick?
WR1:
Brown and Foster having the threat of either going deep will help the running game and underneath passing game. Star = Foster?
WR2:
Zay has had his problems, but is still young and could become the Rams version of Robert Woods (but for us) in a few years.
WR3: I like McKenzie but Beasley could be the best slot receiver in the game. Star = Beasley?
LT:
Dawkins won't be the only respectable O-Lineman.
LG: Either a better Teller or someone better than Teller should win the spot.
C: If he's healthy Morse is a stud. Long as a backup is probably better than Bodine or Groy as a starter. Star = Morse?
RG:
Long easily replaces Miller.
RT: Anything is better than Mills. Nsekhe/Waddle could be a LOT better.

"Survival of the Fittest": Fill the roster with competition for every spot and let the best man win. The cream will rise to the top and you'll find players to step up and play a starring role. Maybe for only a game; maybe over a season; maybe over a career, but it starts with competition and help from other positions.

I could see Hockenson...unlikely but not out of the question. I think our pick will on D

I wish we'd draft offense but I'd bet my life that it's Ed Oliver so long as he's available. I don't hate it either. He's a sure thing.

Joe B: 2019 NFL Mock Draft No. 1

WKBW) — After a flurry of activity for the Buffalo Bills in free agency, the focus of the offseason has shifted almost completely to the 2019 NFL Draft in late April. The Bills hold the ninth overall selection, and have done enough in free agency to at least have the appearance of being a wild card team that can address any position they choose.

Even with all the additions, the Bills still have some holes on the roster. How will they address them all?

My first look at how the draft could shake out, which extends all the way to the Bills' pick in the second round:

9)
bil-mark-1-rgb_1488858415418_56401400_ver1.0_60_45.jpg
- DT Ed Oliver, Houston

- This pairing is gaining steam, and for good reason. Bills general manager Brandon Beane views pass rushers, both from the edge and from the interior, to be premium positions. The defensive system used by head coach Sean McDermott craves a three-tecnhique defensive tackle that initiates pressure up the middle to help thwart a play before the offensive players can settle in. The Bills currently do not have a player at this position that is of starting caliber. Only Jordan Phillips is there, and he's likely best utilized as a rotational piece to maximize his reps. The Bills, under Beane and McDermott, have also yet to invest a substantial draft selection in a player that specializes in creating pressure on the defensive line. Enter Ed Oliver, who to me, is a true potential impact player. He moves around like a linebacker, he shows the strength of a player that outweighs him by 30 pounds, and he's got an array of moves to get into the backfield even against double teams. Heck, there was one rep that I watched where he split a double-team, and then a third and fourth blocker tried to get him and by that point, he was already in the backfield -- and that was on a three-man rush. The only concern that I have with Oliver is with his arm length in being able to keep offensive linemen off his pads. In many cases, it makes teams want to shy away from that defender, but with Oliver, you see him use it to his advantage by getting into the lineman's pads and then pushing him out of the way. He needs to clean up against the run a bit, but there is no substitute for pressure from that position in McDermott's defense. If he's available at ninth overall, all logic points to Oliver being a tremendous fit.

40)
bil-mark-1-rgb_1488858415418_56401400_ver1.0_60_45.jpg
- T/G Dalton Risner, Kansas State

- There were a couple of things to monitor with this pick. If one of the three top tight ends were available, I think the Bills would have to have a long consideration at this spot. At wide receiver, if there is a run on receivers earlier than expected, perhaps they go after one in the second round. And at edge rusher, you have to see if someone falls down the board that was a fringe first round pick. However, with all of those not factoring into the equation, the chance to add a potential starter along the offensive line that brings you some versatility is a tough thing to pass up -- even after they added five offensive linemen in free agency. In Dalton Risner, they're getting a high-intensity player that fits all the prototypes you look for, and when he gets his hands on a player he can control at the point of attack. He consistently looks to finish his blocks and plays with the type of edge that has been lacking on the offensive line. He's a strong run blocker, he plays with power, and he's the type of person the Bills usually look to add to their locker room. He played right tackle at Kansas State, and also has the versatility to flip inside to guard. He'll have to earn a starting job, but he could wind up in the lineup to start the 2019 season.

We now have the 28th and 33rd highest paid WRs, the 14th highest paid TE, and the 5th and 25th highest paid RBs in cap hit per year.. While getting a top notch talent at one of those positions would be great I just don't see it happening after how much they just invested in recent signings. We didn't sign Brown/Beasley/Kroft to "depth" contracts. Also signing Gore tells me they won't invest a pick in the RB in the first 2 days of the draft.

Thry still can use a day 2 pick in a RZb. More likely day 3.

I don't wanna come off as a dick, but most of this is wrong. Morse and Brown were paid starter money and all of them sans Morse can be shed after the year. I would actually be surprised if they didn't take a RB.

Q&A: Don Beebe on his rise 'from nowhere,' the Leon Lett...

What’s your most memorable moment or play from your career with the Bills?

There’s a few moments. But the first time I ever stepped on the field was in Houston at the Astrodome. I never got to play those first two games. Jim went to Coach Levy and said, ‘Listen, we drafted Beebe. Let’s get him on the field. I want him on the field.’ So, here I am, it’s a Saturday afternoon, a nationally televised game. I called home and told my family I was going to play on third downs. I was scared to death, I’m not going to lie. I get out of the huddle and line up for a run play, and Cris Dishman was a corner with the Houston Oilers at the time. He was talking trash, being funny and saying, ‘Hey, white boy. I hear you can run. Let’s see this speed.’

On the next third down, we’re breaking the huddle and Jim goes, ‘Beebs, if he’s pressed on you, go deep. I’m throwing it to you.’ I get up there and Cris is talking more trash. And I beat him for a 63-yard touchdown — first pass ever thrown my way. My whole family was going nuts. I get goosebumps now thinking about it. The funny part of the story is, when I go up to the line next time third down came around, Dishman gets up in my grill but then backs up 8 yards and says, ‘Dang, white boy can run.’

ANALYSIS
Biggest Free-Agency Winners
Which players and coaches gained the most from their teams' free-agency additions? Gregg Rosenthal takes a look at who will benefit the most next season.

So, who else benefited from all the player movement across the NFL this month? Below is a list of guys who are flying high, thanks to free agency/trade activity.

Josh Allen, QB, Buffalo Bills: This article ends how it started: with a second-year quarterback in the AFC East whose arsenal was expanded by offseason pickups. The Bills' moves are intriguing, but they look like a poor man's Jets team in many ways. Cole Beasley and John Brown could pass for lesser versions of Jamison Crowder and Robby Anderson. The addition of center Mitch Morse can't hurt, but he doesn't have the same track record as the Jets' key interior OL pickup, Osemele. Even the biggest Frank Gore fan around (ahem) won't pretend he'll help Allen like Bell will help Darnold.

Surrounding a young quarterback with pieces is vital, yet it will ultimately be on Allen (like Darnold) to deliver on his opportunity. Anyone convinced that Allen's scattershot, hyper-athletic style is definitely going to work or has no chance is probably holding on to a pre-draft agenda that the NFL film doesn't support. He's unconventional, and the odds are stacked against his accuracy issues, but he's shown enough for me to want to see more. With better teammates around Allen, hopefully the evaluation on him will be more clear a year from now. If not, the Bills could be searching for another young quarterback to surround with talent sooner than later.

I mean I don't think the Bills pickups have been anything special, but Beasley, Brown, and Morse clearly have more established track records than Crowder, Anderson, and Osemele. Not sure what this guys angle is...
