Kiper agrees on Matthews:

No. 9 – T Jake Matthews, Texas A&M
I just really like this fit both in scheme and need, and Matthews is the best player left on the board at this point anyway. Despite my early belief that Cordy Glenn would be better on the right side, he’s been a good player at left tackle, which means Matthews likely comes in as the needed solution on the right side. The transition from left tackle to right and vice versa tends to get tossed about as something that’s no big deal, but it can be a tough one for players, which makes Matthews that much more valuable, because he’s demonstrated an ability to, frankly, dominate on either side.

Maybe so but that's how you build a championship team. Draft players that are able to succeed at their position for an extended period of time. A team that drafts the sexy "skill" positions each year may have a happy fan base for two months after the draft but by the time December rolls around they hate the team and want the GM fired.

The sheep will get pumped about whomever we tell them to get excited about, that's why they're sheep.

Establishing bookend tackles should always be a priority regardless of the QB situation. The 49ers improved once they prioritized their OL. Just one example.
And they had a 1st overall QB improve along with drafting a stud QB in the 2nd. They had a great defense before that. It meant nothing.

Maybe so but that's how you build a championship team. Draft players that are able to succeed at their position for an extended period of time.
And then those players leave in FA to a team with a QB. Or you hold them hostage like Mack and Thomas with the Browns, where they waste HOF careers while begging to go elsewhere.

If Watkins or Mack are both available at #4 and Cleveland is willing to trade down would anyone object to trading #9 and #41 and taking either Mack or Watkins? I know I wouldn't. Trade up, grab Mack or Watkins and then draft the best available OL in round 3. Then we walk away from the first 3 rounds with an elite stud starter and a starting OL.

Yeah I'd do it, but Cleveland isn't leaving that spot to draft lower IMO.

I'd do it too, but for Khalil, not Sammy.
However, I would offer them #9, our 3rd, and next year's 2nd and see if they bite on that first.

Personally I wouldn't trade up. Nothing against Mack or Watkins, but I don't want to give up extra picks. One of the problems with this team over the last set of years is that while we've had decent starters, our depth was miserable, so once our starters started getting hurt we had absolutely nothing. That's something you fix through the draft--you get those depth players. That requires quantity of picks.

Not interested in trading up. Unless they want to mortgage the draft for Clowney. I'd be fine with that. No other player is worth it.

The best way to get depth is be like Seattle.

Draft QB with no cap hit despite already signing a QB, have a coach with unique vision that isn't wishywashy buttkisser that spews cliches like candy, sign every pass rusher in the league. Supa Bowl.

There was more to the saga, for those that don't know.

For about 8 hours, the Bills site and mobile app had a headline that said "Marrone announces he has cancer" and that was it. No quotes, no context... Nothing. Then the article disappeared, still without explanation.

Total **** up.

The funny part was it said "blank cancer", as obvious placeholder text

So yesterday, the Bills settled a text lawsuit, got sued by the Jills, and accidentally posted a story about Marrone having cancer. That's nearly as bad as a typical day for the Sabres.

 I was going to say, any time your team is on Deadspin more than 1 time in a week, it's probably a bad sign. 3 times in two days? Yikes

The team will supposedly play in Detroit week 5. Detroit will face Chicago in one of the Thanksgiving games which means the networks came to some sort of understanding to swap games. Maybe Brady/Manning at 8:30 on CBS and SF or NO in Dallas at 4:30 on ???
