It’s no coincidence that Malinski is playing his best hockey now that he’s actually limiting the risky offensive plays and not trying to get on the scoresheet every shift.

He can pick his spots; makes you less predictable and obviously gains the trust of your coaching staff by not committing to 50/50 plays all the time.

Guilty of trying to do too much to impress earlier on? Or just the learning curve.

Think a bit of both.

Figuring out that your AHL and college moves don’t work in the NHL when opponents know what’s coming every shift. He was also trying to impress and earn a spot the rest of the season.

Nothing wrong with that and I’m glad he has adjusted fairly quickly.
