Im not reading this entire thread, but the Sabres slightly overpaid form a position of massive strength to fill a massive hole in their org depth. Mcleod is only 24 and a RFA, slots right into the rest of the core of the roster. The Sabres are way harder to play against now than they were 2 weeks ago. Their top 6 is very young, and very cost controlled or signed long term. Thompson, Tuch, Quinn, Peterka, Cozens are all good players. Savoie would have to crack that group + pass the player who beat him out for a roster spot (Benson).
The Sabres have 4 Matt Savoies in their system, they have no bottom 6 depth. People are acting like a 5'9 winger is going to come in and put up 80 points when its far more likely he was going to bounce between the NHL and AHL next year and be stuck playing 3rd line minutes and not getting any PP time.
