I literally said top prospects. First round picks and blue chip prospects are different. Blue chip prospects give you a lot more certainty and come with a shorter time line to being impact players. That is why teams don’t want to trade them and would much rather trade first round picks.

You literally said he was “basically worth a second and third.”

"likely to be traded" eh? so much for the 31 pages of pure speculation regarding his imminent trade...at least there's the parayko to leafs...or was it the oilers...oh those trades didn't happen either. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

One year Marc threw the puck in the net and it sank a President's Trophy team. His own net

What happened was he had a personality and that's all it takes to be in the old boys club in hockey even if you are out of your depth

Any thoughts as to this? Blues fans think he’ll still get traded?

Would berggren/wallinder/fabbri/25 1st be close ?
Army has said he'll approach him about an extension this summer; apparently Buch has said he REALLY didn't like getting traded by the Rangers and likes it here, so I hope something can work out as long as the numbers are reasonable.

As @NotTheRocketman stated chances that we sign him to an extension have increased quite a bit, but let's entertain the hypothetical case that they can't agree on a extension and Army decides to move him:

The asking price at last trade deadline was reported to be a return with 2 first round picks value. So for example either an actual first round pick+a good prospect, a 2nd + elite prospect or a really good young rosterplayer (preferably a future top-4 defenseman with top pairing upside - see the Mittlestadt/Byram trade), etc. I don't know if Army's ask was realistic though. It's also worth noting that Buch has less term now, but can be moved with an extension, which could influence the asking price.

I guess a 25 1st + Wallinder for Buch extended and/or retained is probably enough at the next deadline. The asked return for a trade during the preseason/draft is probably a bit higher. If Buch tells Army he doesn't want to extend (again IF), a 1st (24 1st probably prefered, but the 25 1st is possible if Yzerman doesn't want to budge), Wallinder + Berggren/pick/prospect would probably be enough for Buch extended/retained.

EDITED for grammar.

Understood. I’d do that trade from Detroit’s side so hopefully Yzerman is in on this if Army isn’t going to re sign him.

I’d love to snag Buchnevic for Detroit’s top 6.

Parayko, Buch for Detroit’s 1st in 24, 2nd in 25, Berggren and Veleno as throw ins

That might be a good offer for one of the two, there is no way that both of them go for value like that.

We might be much better off moving them separately if that's the type of offer we would get.
