OT: Buccaneers, Rays & Other Tampa Bay Sports Teams

Mayfield may be more accurate, but no team is winning a super bowl when.your QB leads the league in turnovers. Nothing kills your chances in big games.more, and whether it was this game or a future.one, Mayfield's inability to not play clean football was always going to cost the team.

Brett Favre?

I think you're being unfair to him. We didn't have a decent running back emerge until the second half of the year, and with our defense we were asking him to force things and score 30+ every game.

I mean tonight he did exactly what you wanted. 15/18 passing, all three incompletes were deep balls on the sideline, 2 TD's and 0 INT's.

Bowles is an incredibly mediocre HC, his defensive scheme gets shredded time and time again, and I have no confidence whatsoever that we'll get a stop when we need one. It's clearly time for him to go but I have no confidence in the Glazers to make the right decision.

The defense allowed 22.5 a game this year. Not great, and worse than last year, true. They weren't great tonight either, but came up with a couple of big stops on 4th down. Mayfield, like he did in a few other games this year, failed to capitalize and also turned it over. He will never be close to Brett Favre, and if Favre did happen to lead the league in turnovers in '96-'97 (he didn't, 39 TDs vs 13 picks), it would be the exception, not the rule. The Bucs offense, against a mediocre Commanders defense, scored 10 less than their average and failed on at least 3 key drives. There's plenty of blame for the defense, but Mayfield didn't get it done when it mattered, just like always at the NFL level.
