In all sincerity, I really hope that a year from now as we're gearing up for a playoff run that we are sitting here eating the biggest pile of crow on Brunette.

But the reality is, even in this awful season there would have been some glimpses here and there, yet there have been none.

And still somehow, I cannot find any reason to believe that Trotz is willing to cut bait. And as bad as Brunette has been, bad coaches happen, it's up to the GM to recognize that and do what needs to be done. If Trotz doesn't see it, or isn't willing to act on it, then he's a much bigger problem than whoever the coach is.

Oh it's definitely one of those things where I hope by the end of next season we are all calling ourselves out because he made some big changes to the system and the team came alive.

The reason I'm pretty confident that won't happen is because if it wasn't for one super hot streak in the previous season and career years from several players this would be year two of missing the playoffs.

If Trotz didn't fire him in mid season, he isn't going to fire him now.

So, March is the cancer?, more like he knows trying to reinvent hockey with End of career Conn Smythe and HOF players is doomed. You have to play to the collective strengths of the team your given. In a perfect world Bruno's in Milwaukee and Taylor got his shot BECAUSE the A's got the agility and you have not spent 15 years perfecting the Old School Hockey.
Trotz first mistake was not letting Hynes finish his contract and think I know why...He didn't want to lose Duchene (mistake#2). If they added the same 3 and still traded Joey, kept Hynes and Duchene, probably we make 2nd round

Not sure I understand the comment about March.

In listening to Trotz speak recently, he seems to have no intention of firing him. He does not hedge in his language around that at all. Hearing what Trotz has to say is scary. He is dooming this organization for a long period of time
It would be completely a Barry Trotz move to act like he was going to sign Bruno to a lifetime contract and then fire him tomorrow. The guy is a combination of idiot and full of shit, which is a dangerous combo.

Wow, I'm the only Yes so far. I mostly just don't believe much of what Trotz says at this point. Since the only reasonable move is to fire Bruno, I still think that is what happens.
It ain't what he says that is the problem, it's the fact he is as stubborn as an old goat and he still thinks too much like a coach. He won't fire Brunette because if he was in that position he thinks it would be BS to be fired.

Also, Barry has stuck out his neck (as much as it exists at least) for Bruno a bunch already. If Brunette was fired now, Barry might think people will see him as incompetent or a liar.

I was talking to my seat neighbor and he asked the same thing. I say no, but he will be on a very short leash next season.
