I’m a big fan of Marchand to the Jets

Chevy is a goat and he is a magician. He’s signing guys left and right in a high tax environment, cold as hell, owners aren’t bazillionaires. And he builds the most solid team.

It would be a Chevy thing to do.

Marchand fits every room but that room is so full of committed vets. Ehlers leaves next season so there is room for Marchand to sign if he wants or Ehlers could be a trade piece to Boston. Boston could sign Ehlers if that’s a thing and woah look at how easy that was. Jets have good prospects to steal too. Marchand also fits the ages of the jets young dudes. There is time for Marchand to continue to play there a few years before those guys need to take the icetime.

I’m backing my boy Chevy today. Do your thing homie.

Kings are a good fit. 1st, Clarke/Greentree.

Chiming in as a Kings fan - we are not a fit. It's a black hole team that shouldn't be wasting assets only to get taken to the woodshed again in the 1st round - if the Kings make the playoffs. Unfortunately, Blake and Co. are dumb enough to do something of this nature so you cannot rule it out. Hoping they all got locked in a dark room with no internet service today.

I'm guessing the bruins will want to send him to the west but I do wonder if Carolina could be in on this -- and not just as a rental but with the intention of extending him for 3-4 years. Or is this assumed to be a situation where he's traded for a cup run somewhere in a lost season then just signs back with boston regardless?

This has been a very hard team to watch this year. The creativity is gone, marchand has lost a step, the defensive coverage appears to be non existent and even swayman has reset the goalie market back 5 years.

Without Marchand i probably won't even watch most of the season. It'll be over. Towel thrown

I think Bruins fans are foolish if they just assume Marchand would come back. He might! Three kids (including a step kid which I know nothing about, but could complicate moving far away) and a wife from the area. But, he also might not.

He can sign a one day contract and retire as a Bruin, he doesn’t need to return. Trade him for every asset they can get. It’s just unfortunate that Sweeney is the one pulling the trigger

Who would seriously take him? Watching him in the 4 Nations clearly showed he is cooked.
He couldn’t keep up with anyone.
While it may be true Marchand no longer has separation speed, his hockey IQ more than makes up for it on both sides of the puck. I'm not saying he doesn't at times take questionable penalties - most this year have been out of frustration. But, if you are looking for someone for your third, or occasionally second, line that knows what it takes to score and be successful and be an example of what type of work effort and commitment it takes at this level demonstrating how it is done for younger players on your team - Marchand is all heart. If this Boston team had any type of forward depth he would be phenomenal as a third line wing with powerplay and penalty killing skills.

Personally, I would hate to see him leave Boston, but If they can't agree on a reasonable contract management will have to do what is in the best interest of the franchise. Fans may not like that aspect, (I don't) but Boston can not take the chance that he walks with no return at the end of the year. As others have said, when the time comes, he can always sign a one day contract with Boston and retire a Boston Bruin, if he doesn't choose to return there before hand.

I dunno... by all accounts, he seems pretty comfortable and happy in the community. I've got kids around his kids age... mine don't play in the same age div, but Dad-friends of mine do and say he's super relaxed at games... just enough attention to be celebrity, but just enough cool-new-england-act-like-you've-been-here-before to leave the guy alone and not hound him. Seems like that would be tough to pass up.
