We absolutely should not trade with Toronto and not for Nylander!!!!
I wouldn’t trade Carlo for Nylander, but man he’d make the forward group deep. He also plays center which is a big need. I know it’s far fetched and not likely to happen, but I’d deal Krug+ for him. If I’m Toronto I’d want a steady shutdown or two way defenseman though but Krug would make their team interesting. Every Toronto game would have over 15 goals.

I thought Nylander was completely ineffective in the playoffs so not that high on him. Plus watching any former bruin on the leafs would be to hard to watch. No can do.

I see another Backes situation with Duchene. He hasn't played well for a long time now. Now Stone could be interesting.

No, Stone would be interesting! Actually, I think that he would be fantastic here! It takes 'nads to trade with a division rival but if it was good for Harry Sinden it should be good enough for Sweeney. Problem is that DS is a great "draft" gm but in terms of trades he's really below par IMO and probably a little gun shy to make such a move.

We need to get rid of Backes stat and get a 2A/2B center for our 3rd line. I'm not looking for a Riley Nash type, I want a guy who can push Krejci.
As others have stated, Gryz has looked great and I think we use an asset like Krug who's had back to back 50+ point seasons to get us a center.
In my opinion, that's the missing link for us to be a real threat this season and into April
Yes, IMO sooner rather than later they need to make a decision on Krug so that they don't get backed into a corner at the end of this season. They need to get a bonafide right shot center asap, it's been a problem that this season seems to really come to the forefront.

Is the issue with our secondary scoring as simple as guys are not shooting the puck?

Looking at this, you'd like to see a bit more SOG from Krejci, Bjork, McAvoy and Heinen. All 4 of those guys need to generating offense for this team to make a serious run. The guys on the 4th line are generating more SOG than the 2nd/3rd lines.

I'd assume that they aren't shooting because they can't get into good shooting position. Pastrnak and Bergeron certainly aren't afraid to shoot, but they also don't just throw limp wristers from red line to the net to pad their Corsi. McAvoy is probably an expection, since he had great puck possession numbers last season while not throwing puck to the net much.

Funny thread. Everyone complains that Sweeney sucks at trading (which he does) and yet people are clamoring for him to make a move. I don’t want them making any move until the pro side of the FO is overhauled. They have assets but they have yet to find out which to keep and which to trade.

Ok thanks Don!

Haha.... You're 100% right. I'm not Don Sweeney. But I think looking at the situation with Backes it's not wrong to say that he's not moving this season. He has a full NMC, and teams looking to acquire Backes would be teams that he isn't waiving to go to. But yep, keep on with the sarcastic responses when you can't come up with anything of substance to counter.

First off you are not getting Nylander for Carlo

Secondly Nylander inefficiency in the playoffs as a 20 year-old against Chara is not uncommon

Likely Hall-of-Famers Seguin, Wheeler, and Hall were all traded because of a lack of patience in the maturation either on and/or off the ice.

I am chuckling reading the many negative comments on Nylander and his game.

When he is 25 like Seguin & Hall he may not be that good but I would love to have that player.

You only have to go back to July and August before Pastrnak break out year when he was a 15 goal scorer and many posters here had him in deals for Trouba. It’s there if you want to find them - even one of the best posters here had Pastrnak and still in college McAvoy in a deal for Trouba.

Good thing about patience it’s an acquired trait thru practice and not something you are born with

Hear what you're saying DKH. Some of us don't see Nylander as a solution and if Sweeney is going to give up some valuable assets/picks I would much prefer it not be my most despised team "the leafs". I prefer seeing bruin players and picks going elsewhere/anywhere not the leafs.

I do believe Nylander and Pasta are amigos so that could be a bonus.

Nylander has a bad run against us last year but what young player doesn’t have bad playoffs? Wheeler and Kessel come to mind as two players that had some less than stellar runs when they were younger.

For me it just depends on the assets we give up in the trade. Carlo, Mcavoy, Pastrnak, Debrusk are all off the table. Ideally I trade Krug but I know that’s not likely for a few reasons.

Nylander is a great young player who will be good for a long time. Add in that he plays center and he’s on the top of my list.

Unless we get a big improvement at any position, I'm for standing pat until game 15 at least. Based on what I saw in the Edmonton game, IMO, a #1 left D is our most pressing need. Chara just looked out of it.

Chara will be fine his skating and cardio out there look good his positioning and decision/making actually cost him.

Vaakanainen floor is second pair his likely ceiling is ‘first fair LHD sent from hockey heaven to play with Charlie McAvoy’

The Bruins left side in the organization is phenomenal

A guy like Nylander would actually be perfect for this squad. Right shot RW/C. If you play him at C, you can run three pairs (Marchand/Bergeron/X, X/Nylander/Pasta, DeBrusk/Krejci/X). And you can throw Moore at RD and bring up Vaak in the short term if Carlo is the primary piece back. In NHL 2019 I make that trade every time.

But, those two teams are not trading. Especially not such big pieces.

Yes, maybe if one of the two teams is in the basement and the other a contender (not both contenders). Or, if both teams were basement dwellers.

This is not true actually. From January to April last season he was a near point-per-game player on a team that was well below .500
