Dom, why no mention of Wanner's
off ice issues? I think that character and behavior should be something that's part of whether or not you hire a player. There is a culture in hockey where people want to bury things having to do with off ice behavior for a variety of reasons, but I would counter that by saying that building a group in the room that respects each other, the fans, and the city they play for is incredibly important.
I can think of reasons why you would omit it, but I would request that you just tell us the whole truth. Because the hockey fans who read about this stuff and already have heard the reporting can tell immediately when that part is omitted. There were many outlets that reported on it. You could certainly do it, too.
As a fan, Wanner's on-ice performance hasn't been that spectacular, so it looks to me like this guy was just someone who needed a fresh start and a change of scenery.
