Holy dung greentree has 110 points. Nice miss there Donny once again.🤪
Letourneau was always going to be a long term project. High end potential from a center was needed in the system, plus I dont think the plan after signing EL and NZ was that there was going to be a rip and replace re-tool this year. compare the pick 5 years from now.

Ok, make me a list of aaaaaaall the players that scored 3 assists in college, then went on to be prime contributors in the NHL. That’s “so what”.

Maybe he blows the roof off next season, but it’s not looking good.
There are plenty of who have blown the roof off in college or juniors that never made it in the NHL as well. I'll judge the pick once all is said and done. If Letourneau ends up being a bust, well, he ends up being a bust. It won't be the first time or the last time that happens. This kid's path has been a bit different than most, so yeah, an offensively weak freshman season is 'so what' for me. Clearly your mileage varies on that one.

Right now, he has as many goals as Zach Senyshyn did in his draft +1 year in the OHL.

Sorry, Dom, not following you here. Seny had 45 in the D+1 year at Soo, didn't he? Just started on my second cup of coffee this morning, so the wheels are turning a little slowly still

Dom is saying Greentree has the same number of goals Senyshyn did in his draft +1 year

So while Liam is winning the Draft +1 year, and will no doubt be rated higher in prospect rankings. That has only limited at most impact on what the players will be when they are age 23 and hopefully starting to really contribute at the NHL level.

I have no idea how well Greentree is doing on his skating, and the other elements of his game that needed improvement to become an NHL player, and we why he was available when he was

Ahh thanks, I was on Letourneau not Greentree. Makes sense to me now. I agree with that completely, btw.

I wasn’t necessarily going at you there - lots of comments just looking at his point totals. And many people act like Letourneau was going off the board (like, say, Lohrei) when he was ranked around there everywhere.

Up until this year people pined for Kaliyev. And I was told recently by many on here you can’t evaluate a draft pick for several years. But if Letourneau was putting up 75 points in the Q this year everyone would be fawning over him.
Letourneau's rankings vs Greentree;
Dobber Prospects - 55 to 18
Elite Prospects- 24 to 12
Sporting news 30 to 19
hockey writers Not in top 32 to 17
Hockey Prospect- Not in top 32 to 15
Smaht Scouting Not in top 100 (honorable mention) to 10
Pronman 28 to 23
Mackenzie in the 33-38 Range to 18
Sound of Hockey Consolidated Rankings - 46 to 16

Any idea why Greentree fell 8 to 16 spots? Even on McKenzie's list where he does a consensus of 10 NHL scouts, he fell. Did 10 out of 32 scouting departments overvalue him?

I'm not trying to play dumb here, I am genuinely curious because I had him ranked as the third player out of the OHL. Then Sennecke, Luchanko and Beaudoin (the guy I really wanted) went ahead of him.

I think biggest thing was the valuation of Cs over wings- Hage, Boisvert, Beaudoin, and Surin.

Then just some kind of surprise picks like Parascak and Surin and the late rise of Solberg

I think those factors along with skating concerns about Greentree had him drop.
You've seen a lot more of him than I have, but I gather there was also some concern about play away from the puck and maybe ultimate upside?
