Bjork's early season stat line really jumps off the page. Is there any indication whether he intends on turning pro after this year or if he wants to return to ND for his senior year? I'll be anxiously awaiting the announcement that he's signed his ELC with the Bruins whenever the time comes.

That is the concern with some of the prospects. Thanks to Vesey and Wheeler.

The Fighting Irish are ranked #3 in the country. Bjork is leading the way.

Junior forward Anders Bjork leads the nation in points recorded (5g, 5a) while his five goals on the year are tied for second in the nation.

If he keeps this up all season, the B's are going to have to burn a year of his entry level deal and play him in a game or two this year if possible, a la Krug when he signed out of Michigan St. I'm sure they won't mind.

The Canada Russia series is open to any Canadian player and is the precursor to the World Junior Championship roster selection.

The roster for this series is selected by the host league, the two host teams and Hockey Canada.

Thanks, Dom

Kinda surprised that Gabrielle is not on the roster based on his play last year and so far this season.

If Bjork turns pro after the ND season, it will have to be with Boston. He doesn't meet the NCAA requirements to opt out and become a UFA after his junior year (like Benning this past offseason). I think the B's will make every effort to sign him as soon as ND's season ends.

They better. I really don't want a Vesey situation on our hands.

I'm not worried, its a fantastic situation for a young winger. Plenty of spots open.

Put me down for Vesey situation.

His mother and father both graduated from ND.

His dad according to his bio was a 1983 All-American hockey player for Notre Dame and currently serves as a director of regional development at Notre Dame.

He has two sisters who graduated from Notre Dame and a younger brother who plays hockey who will be headed there

He's enrolled in Notre Dame's Mendoza College of Business

um, I don't see him coming out after this year

it could happen but I'd but it at 1 % so there is a chance

He's a product of Chicago youth hockey

this is going to be a very tough one folks

No offense, but I think this is largely irrelevant. He's getting an undergraduate business degree so he'll stay until his senior year? If he has a decent business mind he'd know he should take the money when he can get it and take his remaining credits at a later date. Vesey situation worked out perfectly for him, doesnt happen like that all the time.

I also don't want to pretend this is anything but a case by case basis. Like I said about Vesey from the beginning, I'm sure Bjork has no idea what he wants to do yet.

I'm pretty sure heading into their third year of college they have/had a pretty good idea of what they were going to do. Losing out on Vesey was a great thing in regards to Bjork IMO. Our top 3 LW would have been set for a long time, and then pasta senyshyn and Heinen on the other side.

Bjork seems to be working on all the things the Bruins asked this summer so there seems to be good dialogue but if he continues this pace he may be foolish not to pick his own destiny.

I know Heinen is playing the right side, although he played the left last night with Backes on that line. Does he project as a LW or RW?

If you look at the wings, atleast for the next 5 years, you're probably looking at one RW spot in the Top 9. Likely this is Senyshyn.

On the left, there's probably two in the Top 9. Now if Spooner stays there and is a 50-60 point player, their be one or none. You've got DeBrusk, Heinen, Beleskey, and Gabrielle as well.
Marchand
Vatrano?

Btw, we have like no RWs in the system. I can see why they signed Backes.

Vesey's childhood team was the Bruins.

You seem to be implying that Bjork's team is the Blackhawks (has this even been asked)?

Not sure what ND has to do with this, and while he played youth hockey in Chicago, he was born in Wisconsin.

So...even if this was a "Vesey situation", shouldn't Chicago be worried, not Boston?

The B's appear to have a large number of good prospects, but I'm not sure that deters someone like Bjork? If he's paying attention, in the last two years since Sweeney came on, Vatrano, Czarnik, Heinen, ROG, Acciari, Morrow, Miller and Carlo have all gotten NHL opportunities.

That would tell me that if I prove I can play, they will give me a shot.

When I watched the ND game last weekend, Bjork was playing RW.

Hope you're right.

The flip is that he sees Marchand vatrano debrusk beleskey and Heinen on the left side and wants an easier path

This may or may not have been the case with Vesey, but do you want a guy on the team that's afraid of competing and earning his spot?

Also, as I said earlier, Bjork is a RW at ND.

He's definitely got a better shot on the right.

We shall see.

I think it's kind of funny. I like a bunch of the B's prospects, but am constantly told that they will be lucky if two or three of their Top 10 kids pan out (which is a little low IMO).

But then other posters (not you) say that a kid like Bjork might not want to play for Boston and compete with all those other prospects.

Wait a minute...the same prospects that 70-80% of, are not going to make the team?

I know this wasn't your point, but I feel that I should clarify this 2-3 prospects will make it from a statistics point of view. These numbers are based on the mean of a Gaussian curve. Likewise, we shouldn't be surprised if 1 or 0 of 10 prospects make it because that falls within the normal distribution of the curve. We also shouldn't be surprised if 4 or 5 prospects make it to the show because that ALSO falls within the normality of the curve. When we start to get to 6 or 7 of the 10 prospects, that is when we get to probabilities that are unlikely. Now, obviously the pure numbers don't take into account how good the specific prospects are performing but those types of numbers would be imbedded in past trends so there is no reason to create a prior based on current performance.

I think Bjork wants to be here.

If we pulled down our pants to try and lure Vesey we should do whatever we can to get this kid IF he keeps it up this year and dominates the NCAA. But thats obviously me projecting him keeping up the ridiculous stats. Young college player from the USNTDP like McAvoy so the big jump age 20 and 3rd year of college is understandable.

Bruins fans don't want Notre Dame making the frozen four because that is 2 weeks with the big club we can lure as a carrot if they do not.

If Bjork puts up monster numbers this year returning to college becomes risky because his stock will drop if he doesn't match them and have a big season as a senior. All those ND connections probably means its somewhat easy for him to go back one summer or two and finish up with summer school or maybe do online courses. Vesey's situation was unique normally players do not get that respect based on college play presumptuous to think Bjork is in the same situation regardless of point totals.

But we have a lot of bodies. If DeBrusk plays 40-50 games this year for us and plays well and Vatrano comes back and starts scoring goals and take 2 jobs for the forseeable future that makes us a lot less attractive.

Went to see BU vs SHU tonight...

McAvoy and JFK with a point each.

JFK was really steady and sound. Was the lone forward on a couple of 5on3 PK's. First unit PP, first line center... He's their Bergeron.

McAvoy played a more controlled game. Still, he had the biggest hit in the game with an open ice bomb, and he had some dynamic moments where he stepped up and took charge in the Ozone, but much fewer of those moments than in the game I saw earlier.

OT: Fabbro looked very good as well. He's not as physically gifted as McAvoy but he plays a very smart and competitive game. He had a weird goal that looked like a harmless point shot, but it skipped in front of the goalie and changed direction. Still, made some nice plays carrying the puck around the Ozone and some nice passes.

My mistake.

Forgot this place was a cesspool of miserable people.
Thanks for reminding me why I never post here anymore.
I'll see myself out.

Sorry, not how I meant it --I just find the whole situation with him and how he was handled to be frustrating. I mean, I wasn't the biggest 'KoKo' fan in the world but Talbot would be waived, go unclaimed, get called back up and then get 14mins in an NHL game bringing nothing to the table.... meanwhile the Russian kid rotted under Julien.
