When is that tournament for our prospects? I saw on Twitter it's in a few days but that didn't sound right since there's no buzz or rosters announced anywhere

Wonder if Ferlin plays or he's to good for it. I kid. I kid. If Cassidy-Snape is coaching I have to think he'd like nothing better than not having to look at Knight for another week so don't expect to see him. Florek makes sense since they could take in a show or two in Opryland. You have to think I Am Legend David Pastrnak will be there

Aside from wanting providence's best players actually getting into the big clubs lineup I have no horse in the Knight race .
I was just wondering DKH what bothers you so much on that topic ? Is it Cassidy's mis management of Knight or something else ? Just wondering and enjoy your passion on the topic

Haha- knight filled a void once Sobotka left and I went thru grieving until that summer day in early June when I called a very knowledgeable hockey scout pre draft and asked give me a handful of guys to watch who the Bruins might draft with their two second rounders. The first name he gives me is Knight and says 'born Bruin' - character, tough as nails- probably strongest player pound for pound and has super hands - very North/South but with a playmaker he is deadly because he needs little time and goes to net- hard.

He said due to diabetes that was detected he slipped but once resolved he led a strong London team in goals in both regular season and playoffs.

I had found my replacement for Sobotka- and the rest is history

thanks- and I 'believe' it will....Boston gets a bad rap on missing on Hamill, Colborne, Sauve, and looks like Caron; but the great LA Kings missed on a few- and Boston still has many, many prospects from Spooner, Koko, Ferlin, Griffin, Florek Trotman, and others acquired in deals like Morrow and Warsofksy- as well as the last couple of drafts that look pretty good to make an impact.

I have considered backing off the Knight stuff but 99% of my friends tell me no, dont do it:laugh:....going out in about 3 hours to meet the Bruins gang I go to the games with and most lurk here so I'll get an update on if I should stop;)

all these kids work hard and have a lot of talent and I wish them the best- obviously I want Knight to make it but I certainly like Spooner a lot, Koko, cant wait to see Ferlin and Pastrnak.

my perfect Bruins RW situation would be Pastrnak, Knight, Ferlin, Griffith, and Cunningham...get my drift.

I like prospects and like home grown players- I watch the Red Sox right now and do the math and see my binkie Mookie Betts blocked at his positon by Pedroia, and likely not going to break in on JBJ, or Allen Craig, so the thought of him getting dealt for Stanton seems likely. I hated Sobotka getting dealt and it was beyond the 3 jerseys my daughter has:help:....and would fell that way about Knight, and Spooner.

What is the thought on Spooner's development? Do you think it makes sense to move him given he is stick behind some rough center competition or do you think that Boston and Spooner are willing to tough it out for a few more years and then make room for him by moving one of the more established centers.

His skill set seems to be best at center and I'm not sure how effective he will be as an NHL'er if he has to break in at wing. You guys see more of him than I do however.

If he was moved, do you have any thoughts on what kind of prospect he could get back? I'd assume you'd be looking at a RW'er?

Is Fraser basically a lock for Bruins starting lineup now that he's waiver eligible and did pretty decent in AHL/NHL stints?

Yeah I noticed that he wasn't under contract yet. Made me wonder, but I already take enough **** for my opinion on Fraser on his time in the NHL... Didn't want to make any suggestions that would have made it worse. ;)

I still think he's Brian Dobbin part 2
NHL minimum and not a penny more

Pass.

If they are dealing Spooner for a Pred prospect, then go for Salomaki. Good size, scoring touch, likes the physical play as well.

The need is RW not another LW, hence Watson although...
I'm digging Jesper Fast from the Rangers, near perfect fit on the thirdline

There's a summer camp in Quebec this week for the U20 team.

Including Canada, there will be a team from Russia and From Czech Republic and our own David Pastrnak.

http://stats.hockeycanada.ca/schedule/league_instance/20720?subseason=165586

Pastrnak has this camp, and then probably heads right to training camp with Sodertalje. Exhibition games for Sodertalje start around August 15, and he might even get a few regular season games in.

Basically, there should be no rust on the kid when camp starts in September.

So Pastrnak will be at the Bruins training camp come Sept?? I'd love to see him play a few exhibition games just to get an idea where this kid is talent wise..LOVE to see another player make the team same year as his draft and play well enough to stay in the league. Remember the year Bergie got drafted{2nd rd I believe}and right to the NHL!

Rookie camp first, including the tourney in Nashville.

One step at a time. :)

There was room on those sub par bruins teams for Bergeron to crack the lineup with his 3 zone skill set. I'd be stunned of Pastrnak can do it with our present team but hey all the best to him !!

Know they talked about it a little during development camp but was there any confirmation on where Donato will play this season? Omaha (USHL) or Dexter? Sorry if I missed it

MMB I have to say you are an outstanding mod and agree or disagree you are a pillar to this place. What Dom says is true. I rail on Cassidy but when it comes to defenseman he appears very good except for Tommy Cross. I hear super things about Dean. I don't get why there is no forward coaching in that staff and when Ryan Spooner comes up they have to spend time working face offs and coverage and all that **** he should have gotten in Providence

If true, how is all of this allowed to continue? It's simple common sense to work on faceoffs. Even I understand that. Neither Don Sweeney nor Peter Chiarelli -- Harvard grads both! -- are stupid. Surely they must know about stuff like this. It doesn't make sense that they wouldn't address these issues.

I watched about 50 minutes of Czech-Russia exhibition game (Russia won 5-0) with an eye on Pastrnak...a few comments:

-- After the first period, the Czechs as a whole just looked awful. They were not making any plays with the puck, they were losing races to 90% of loose pucks...they just had very little going offensively. Russia was clearly the better team and it looked like David didn't have the highest quality of teammates (especially since Vrana skated on a different line).

-- With that said, I was a bit disappointed in Pastrnak. I expected him to stand out and be a consistent offensive threat and that was not the case. I counted 1 legit scoring chance where the puck deflected to him all alone in front of the net but he had trouble getting a handle on it and the D recovered to block it. Other than that, I counted maybe 2 shots on goal from him -- neither of which had much of a chance of going in.

-- The biggest asset I noticed was his passing. He made a number of nice diagonal cross ice passes breaking out of the zone to push the pace. He also made a nice play where he carried into the zone then stopped on the half boards and looked over his options (though the pass floated through the slot incomplete). There were also a couple instances where he made good tape-to-tape passes but either his teammates couldn't control them or they didn't have their stick on the ice to receive them (which reiterates my point on the lack of help from his teammates).

-- Defensively he seemed adequate. He was directly at fault for Russia's first goal as he fell down while retrieving the puck at his own blueline while under pressure which created a turnover and odd-man rush -- but he may have just lost an edge at an unfortunate time. Other than that, it looked like he back-checked OK and there were a couple instances where he sagged down in the defensive zone to pick a Russian forward's pocket as they were cutting towards the circle.

-- The biggest concern I had was his tendency to make seemingly blind passes toward the center of the ice. Almost all of them resulted in a turnover in the neutral zone (though none led directly to scoring chances). We all know Julien will not tolerate that but it is a habit that should be easy to fix.

Overall, I would've liked to see more out of him but hard to put too much stock in an exhibition game where his team was outmatched. Hopefully he (and the Czechs) show a bit more tomorrow when they take on Canada in an exhibition.

Last I heard a decision hadn't yet been made.

Thanks. I would assume Chia and co would be nudging (if not pushing) towards Omaha. More games better competition. I also believe Chia has an ownership group in the USHL so he certainly is familiar with the league
