Why is anyone adding anything to get Evander Kane.

Here are the Sharks' options if a trade isn't done...play him in the AHL or let him sit at home for 3.5 more years.

Doesn't seem to me like the Sharks are in any power to negotiate here.

I don't know why you quoted my post to say this. I didn't say anything about what the leafs would trade, or what Kane is worth, simply that he would be interesting in Toronto but okay

My hope would be the third team that is retaining 2.5M would see Ritchie as valuable enough to be part of their compensation for retaining (assuming they will need bodies to get to cap floor). Maybe we throw in Leonard/Chemelski and our own 3rd with Ritchie and come out with a 2nd plus only retaining 2M on Kane.

Honestly you guys have absolutely no leverage due to how problematic Kane is. The acquiring team is doing you a huge favour so you're going to have to do them a favour.

I’ll definitely take on Kane for 3.5 million if we’re trading Ritchie and Mrazek.

Yeah im curious enough to think about it but not so much to give them our best assets like picks and prospects.

I'd do it to get a legit top six left winger and to clean up our goaltending. If sharks say no then its an easy pass.

We cant afford cap back for him. Your either getting the 50% retention or cap dumps, not both.

With Pens fans being eager to jump on this, I'm curious what price they're paying? (Or getting for taking him)

i could see a deal involving zucker or matheson maybe although they might be used in a 3rd team deal..... and there could be futures depending on how long he stays in the nhl.

I'm not surprised Canes aren't in the mix in the rumor. They already placed their bet with Kotkaniemi and don't have more cap space to play with.

They need to see who between Necas, Jarvis, Kotkaniemi fills which slot when they look into the extensions with Trocheck, Niederreiter, Staal. So it's not surprising they aren't making big moves now, even with a probably good playoffs run looming in the horizon.

It's interesting for sure, but as the main piece of a trade I don't like Evander Kane. Reimer provides stability in net, Campbell/Reims would be a legit 1A/1B tandem. Kane is a huge risk for any team trading for him. No denying his talent, but there's just too much off ice BS you have to deal with, with him. Reimer + Kane (retained) for Ritchie + Mrazek + 2nd ?

I just don't think E. Kane is a guy you target as the main piece in a trade and move assets for, his off ice issues really hurt his value a lot.

If Reimer and Mrazek are involved, and your 2nd, I think we would only be willing to retain 2.5 M on Kane but Sharks could pay another team to retain 50% on Reimer. So something like:

Kane @ 4.5 M + Reimer @ 1.125 M (Plus a 4th + B prospect to AZ for retaining on Reimer) for Mrazek @ 3.8 M + Ritchie @ 2.5 M + 2nd
