The guy spent more time screaming this year, than coaching...............once you lose the vets, you lose the room.
It seemed like it was too early, but the players had already checked out......
It doesn't seem like the players ever really checked in for the season.

And that is why I wrote the following:
Monty played hardball with Swayman to the detriment of the whole team and start of the season.:sarcasm: So smart. Thank goodness for Sweeney and Co. to save the day and season.

Probably for the best. He looked like he was gonna start drinking again (I kid but like I’m not). Rest up Jimbo and come to STL this summer.

Again, it’s the coach’s fault that the GM let UFAs walk and replaced them with older, slower guys for more money. Boston had a good coach. The GM is the guy who needed to be fired.,

The game against Ottawa where they put up zero shots in the third period and lost in OT was it for me.

How do you register zero shots in a period, especially the third period of a tie game?
It was all Monty's fault.:sarcasm: He said "Boys don't even try to shoot the biscuit. Play amongst yourselves."

I agree.

Next time Bruins will be relevant is when Bergeron becomes the GM.

f***.
A caller on local sports radio last night said the Garden was 1/3 empty...a host today said he was there and it was 25% empty.

Regardless, attendance was announced as 17,525 or so, NOT the 17,850 since the renovations a few years ago, upping capacity from 17,565.

Seems to me they lost their sellout streak since 2010 last night? Long streak!

Bad seats started at $39 plus fees days before on Vivid, dropping to $25 plus fees 30 minutes before game. $39 is the lowest I've seen. It would usually be $42 to $50 vs. Columbus on a Monday in November.

Truth. 20 games into the season only two Bruins have double digit points. Brazeau and Koepke are tied for third on the team in goals, with 4 each.

Lindholm, signed at 7 years for $7.75M per has 2 goals.

McAvoy has played like dog crap since last season's playoffs. $9.5M per and looking almost as bad as the Nurse contract.

Then there's the $8M man, Swayman. Save PCT of .884.

Sure, 20 games into the season fire the coach who did more with less last season and has an even worse roster this season in terms of speed. I'm not a fan of GMs who ass up and make coaches the fall guy. It's a long standing tradition in sports.

Montgomery will get another HC job in the NHL. I'm a MSL fan, but if the Habs decide to part ways, for the love of all things, please bring Montgomery back home to Quebec.

Why do they always have to go to the airport? They probably have a house in town no?
They could go to the train station I guess. Sweeney and Neely can’t afford real estate in Boston working on a Bruins salary , and their coaches don’t last long enough to buy a house.

On one hand the roster ain't it but on the other hand, any good players they do have are underperforming.

The window closed and they tried to pry it back open with UFA signings, never works.

Additionally, not so great drafting and frittering away high round draft picks at the deadline have been a trademark of the current GM.

Looking at the current roster, there are no top-six level forwards drafted and developed during Sweeney's tenure as GM (Pastrnak was drafted before Sweeney was GM). Around a decade of drafts and crap to show for it when it comes to skill players.

Window closed when FLA beat Boston in the first round 2 years ago. Problem is that there is nothing in the cupboard due to the points I made above. They are also locked in to multiple big money contracts that aren't looking so hot. Boston is not going to be a Cup contender for a long time.

must be nice to be a fan of a team that will do SOMETHING to show fans/players/team losing isn't acceptable.....it may be the wrong move but its nice to see teams send a message that losing and underperforming is not ok....... hope the ducks already have Monty on a flight to join the team, but the team I'm a fan of is ok with losing, and think making improvements is something that is a 10 year plan.

Firing two great head coaches begs to differ. Cassidy and now Montgomery.
Yep. Head coaches under Sweeney in a bit over 9 seasons:

1. Julien, fired despite winning a Cup and going to a SCF in 2013.
2. Cassidy, won a Cup the season after leaving Boston and went to a SCF in 2019.
3. Montgomery, NHL's winningest coach in his tenure at Boston, including all-time best regular season and a Jack Adams.
4. Sacco, lmao

Sweeney: no Cups, 4 coaches, a depleted talent pool, and shit signings. Funny he's still there.

It's a result-centered league and he makes the playoffs every year. I get that people are saying he is doing a bad job because everyone sees it but saying he deserved firing before actually screwing anything up is also kinda crazy.

For sure. And if it's a results centered league why is the GM given a free pass there? Look at some of the names on the 2015-16 Bruins roster in Sweeney's first season as GM: Bergeron, Krejci, Pastrnak, Vatrano, Marchand, Eriksson, Chara, Krug, Dougie Hamilton, Seidenberg, Rask, and a host of decent support players. That's basically what the GM was gifted, along with the infamous 2015 first round picks he blew.

Compare that with the roster today after around a decade of Sweeney at the helm. It's laughable. Not much accountability for the GM, but the winningest NHL coach since 2022 is the one who gets canned because he can't make slow unskilled players faster and offensive weapons, or make an overpaid goalie save shots.
