Strictly speaking as a Sabres fan, we seem to get up for these games more than the Bruin's do. I would gander you guy's don't see this as much of a rivalry as we do so our guys put it all out there when they play Boston and then play like crap against every other team. Boston is our biggest rival currently, I don't think you guys hate us nearly as much...but who knows...you guys dominated the majority of that game. If we didn't have Miller I don't know what our record would be but I imagine it would be under 4 wins.

I think you are definitely under exaggerating how big these games are to Boston, especially our fans. There's no doubt these games are important to the team and to our fans as well. I personally don't hate your club, a Portland, ME native who has seen alot of your current players come up through the AHL ranks, however most of our fans despise the Sabres equally if not more than you guys hate us. In terms of why we don't match up well against your team, that's a mystery that I've yet to figure out and judging by the commentary on our board most others don't quite understand either.

Really? I certainly would be glad to stand corrected because no good rivalry revolves around one team hating another team who doesn't care but if that's the case, great. Just out of curiosity, where would Buffalo rank on the rivals list now? I know the Habs come first and foremost but we never had a built in rival like the O6 teams had.

Fair assessment but no need to apologize for having a world class goalie. Miller was terrific tonight and he is capable of that kind of performance on any given night.

I think you are right about the rivalry. Given what went on last year, Buffalo hates the Bruins and sees them as their chief rival where as Boston has the age old rivalry with the Habs, all of the trades and Kessel stuff has made for a rivalry with the Leafs, bitter rivals with Vancouver even though they rarely play, there is only so much hatred left for the Sabers

Ok, so Khudobin gets run twice... (definitely not bad runs, but hit) and the Bruins just stand around as if nothing happened?

I don't know, it seems like they're playing soft... very soft. For god sakes, Kaleta beat the tar out of Campbell in the last game, thats how soft they have been.

Remember when Chara used to get angry?...

haha I think you captured my opinion on the rivalry fairly well! Hey, maybe we can face you guys in the first round as an 8 seed and make the hatred boil over..:handclap:

When Khudobin got ran I actually said that would never have happened if Mark Stuart was protecting our net.

MTL, Vancouver, Buffalo I would say are the 3 that pop into my mind when it comes to a "rivalry" but that is just my perspective.

toss in the Rangers due to the NY/Bos prototypical rivalry and the fact that the games are always competitive, though some fans would consider past games boring I always find them entertaining.

Pathetic 3 rd period again by the bruins against the sabers. No life no toughness at all . Still waiting for this team to play a full 60 mins. This team is 8-2 but have enough flaws to get a tad concerned.

IDK about everyone else I don't feel like TO is our rival. I actually like watching them play when they're not playing the Bruins. Have no ill feelings for the Senators either.

I wouldn't say it would have never have happened. I would however say he would actually pushed someone... rather than just turn away and run because it was John Scott.

i also find it impressive how Dougie hasn't taken a single penalty through 12 games.

Stuey was 100% team first. He would have stepped up tonight for sure. I miss the guy terribly. It just baffled me how much the guys didn' step up on terms of the physical stuff. Shocked even. Maybe they were tired or something but last night was not a normal night for us. Chara looks so average out there lately.

I can't stand that a 21 year old kid who has a great game, and is physically engaged throughout (easily his biggest weakness) gets railed on while a guy like Krejci who has weak play after weak play is glossed over because he made one decent pass.

Thinking production equates to great performances is the reason a guy like Bergeron is under appreciated.

I have no idea how NHL.com credits him with just one giveaway.

Pretty weak analysis

What bother me the most is the fact once again we have cap space, it's pretty clear we need more offensive power from the third line and Chiarelli refuses to look outside the box. Obvious it's nice giving opportunities to the rookies, but no one is doing what Ryder did. I'm not his biggest fan, but he would be, by far, a better option than Bourque.

That's a little hyperbolic, no? Unless I missed the press release where Chiarelli flat out said he would not be making a trade this season.

EDIT - Unless you're also referring to the last couple seasons with Rolston and Pouliot. But even so, there's not much he can do. He could sign a decent/producing player for that line but then you won't be able to afford Horton and Rask at the end of the season.

“We’ve got a good team. It doesn’t mean we’re going to go out and get somebody because we have this cap space now, but sometimes in my experience, there are good deals that come early and you have to be in the ballgame and we’re in the ballgame now.”

Chiarelli quote

By outside of the box what would that mean??? I would argue that a Rich Peverley and a Chris Kelly were "outside the box". Usually that phrase is often used when someone does something that isn`t exactly anticipating or expects in whatever the situation is. Chia isn`t perfect, but he`s the best bloody GM this team has had in a looooooong time.

So, rather than fire out the accusations, how about putting some of your "outside the box" ideas, and sorry, Ryder isn`t outside the box, on the table for us to see. Chia`s move of Kessel for not one player that was currently on an NHL roster, in spite of knowing the Leafs wouldn`t be strong was as risky as I`ve seen from a GM.

Sent a guy who`s gonna get ya 30 yearly (albeit allergic to playing 3 zones) for 3 draft picks, all whom could have been busts. Is/was that "outside the box" enough for ya??

This team hasn`t played their best, loads of them are just not producing, whatever Chia does, as with every team, he has to do so with the awareness that a guy named Rask needs to be re-signed, possibly Horton, and a cap falling next season, so, as simple as many of us here make it to be, or think it is, pick up the phone, talk to another GM and a deal gets done as quickly as it does on the boards, most here know, that just isn`t the reality.

I`ve read for years when Chia hasn`t made whatever deal a fan or some fans want, they post the "sat on his hands" BS, of course, never knowing just how active Chia was, how often and how many calls he made, and then there`s the other side, what was the asking price for player X,Y or Z??? I`ll let Chia be the GM, he`s done enough to earn my trust. Doesn`t mean I find no fault ever with him, but I completely disagree with your opinions about him refusing to think outside the box.

says "KrejciMVP"... If I'm the poster child for being biased against him, you're the poster child for the opposite. Criticizing some as a weak in a 3 word post is pretty awesome though.

I believe Krejci had a bad game. As he did against NYR. Weak on the puck, poor decision making, not engaged physically.

Also noticed marchand took at least two of his defensive zone face offs in the 3rd. Why?

I know one of those was on an icing. I think it was on purpose to give them a small breather before getting kicked out for Bergeron to take the draw.

They did it a lot last year with Seguin too.

I don't think anything of it, as long as Bergeron is the guy who goes in for the face off after Marchand or Seguin get kicked out.

Yep, just finished watching the game, I`ll give him a bit more rope, but that`s 2 very weak arse games in a row. Didn`t move his feet all night, hopefully we see a different Krejci in Winnipeg tomorrow...............don`t make me delete the Krejci appreciation thread I started;)

Oh, and you're right about Miller. If you didn't have him in net you would definitely have under 4 wins for sure.

Krejci has been our most consistent, hard working forward this season with a close second by Marchand. Everyone else has totally sucked at one moment or another (except maybe Paille who I don't think I have seen phone it in either).

I know the Habs come first and foremost but we never had a built in rival like the O6 teams had.

While I hate Vancouver-we at most see them one time a year. Hard to say where they fit-because I think I would actually root for the Habs if they played Vancouver, but it is hard to have one of those good rivalries with them, because the Bruins don't play them enough.

My hatred goes: Habs, Buffalo, Penguins, Flyers (as a rival but confess that I like the Flyers when they play teams other than Bruins).
