He's not wrong.

Kakko has shown serious improvements in his all around game, though the offense hasn't yet arrived.

Lafreniere, when he isn't scoring, isn't offering much. He doesn't seem to have developed an inch since leaving Junior hockey.

At a certain point the kid has to realize he's going to need to adapt and change his game if he wants to make some money at this level.
You can tell Jack Hughes is electric when the puck gets on his stick. He’s not physically mature or even strong at this point imo. But you can see him oozing with talent with his vision, stick handling, and edge work. LaF does not do that. He’s tentative, almost so scared to make a mistake with the puck on his stick that he immediately looks to dish it to someone else.
The only time he looks to really shoot is on a 2 on 1 or 3 on 2 rush or when he’s putting it in to an open net.
Can his skating improve? Yes. Does it need work? Yes.
But most important thing to me is, he has to go in the dirty areas and be hunger to shoot and score.
He’s trying to be too much of a playmaker with these cute perfect passes. He’s got to go in traffic and look to be selfish and unload that wrister. He can’t be afraid to get hit or cross-checked.
Him developing into a perimeter player would be then end in my mind.
Obviously, he looks old/more mature but he’s freaking 20. I’m sure he’s more then just a little intimidated by other teams guys, pressure to perform being 1OA, etc
I think like many kids with hype, everyone told him how good he was gonna be, how awesome the rangers will be this year etc, and he probably didn’t work as hard on some things that he should have.
I bet he believed his own hype just a little too much, and he’s finding out the hard way how much work it actually takes to be a star in this league and it shocked him a bit.
Good news is he’s 20, he’s got the skill set, but he’s gotta put the work in to make his game better.
I highly doubt Gallant would deny him the opportunity to be successful.
Frankly, Im more worried that we resigned Zibby instead of trading for Eichel and replacing him tbh.
This is a preview of what we’re going to see in the later half of the Zibby contract. A perimeter player who shys away from contact. When he’s not scoring he’s noticeable bad. I don’t think some fans realize just how good he is/can be

Obviously the title misconstrues the Brooks article and is meant to get the reaction it did. Perhaps don't take the bait.

That said Brooks, as he often does, makes unpopular comments worth considering. No one says LAF is a flop. That said he seems to be floundering a bit and if this team has aspirations this season LAF may be misplaced on the top line. A top line that clearly misses Buch since he drove a lot of the play with Mika finishing and Kreider in front of the net. Not sure how LAF fits in at this time. LAF looked better with Chytil and Blais on the third line.

They just need to stop force feeding him minutes, he'll figure it out if he has to work his way from the 3rd to 1st.

Hysterical people focusing on the title of this thread when the fact is the title is spot on.

The Rangers know there’s a problem with Laff -, but they have not let on about it.

The problem is obvious to anybody who understands the game of hockey or who anybody who’s ever played the game like myself over 35 years… He can’t skate at an elite level.

he needs Brian Boyle skating coach or else we’re looking at a pedestrian a hockey player who got fat on a weak Q league .

he’s kind of a dumpy looking player - Absolutely nothing stands out about him - zero.

continue to focus on my title though…

You don't have to be a good skater to have success, though it doesn't hurt.

Zuccarello is slow. He pretty much always has been. He made it work in the NHL because of his vision and playmaking ability.

Laf's problem, as I see it, is he is too passive. He waits for the game to come to him instead of sticking his nose in and finding the game himself.

It isn't time to panic, per say, but we should start measuring our expectations.

Not time to panic yet but it certainly is a fair comment that both Laf & KK have disappointed to date, given their draft status. They certainly haven't hit the ground running like say a Tim Stützle. Some prospects obviously need more time. Worth noting that the main criticism of both Laf & KK was their skating and that has proven to be an issue.
I know Laf is not as entertaining as Tim but doesnt Laf actually have more career goals?

He’s the best writer in the sport and nyc for 3 decades.

com’on, the days of the pack page being breaking news are over. It’s old news by the back page. His writing is so subjective and i feel he burnt his credibility to ash siting “unnamed sources” to rumors which never materialized.

Now the post wants us to pay, well, the story had better be enticing and a shot at Laf is the vehicle to do so. Meanwhile, Panarin has fewer goals and is playing pretty mediocre imo.

The title is title of this thread is spot on if you're a hormonal 13 year old girl, which is a total insult to hormonal 13 y/o girls.
Don’t let the thread title distract you from the fact that Al Bundy scored four touchdowns in a single game while playing for the Polk High School Panthers in the 1966 city championship game versus Andrew Johnson High School, including the game-winning touchdown in the final seconds against his old nemesis, "Spare Tire" Dixon.

Yup a couple of more goals, 7 less points. Also the prospect gurus now have them in the same tier. Tim's stock up a bit and Laf's down a bit.

Of course that can change. I recall Wahlstrom being ahead of Kravtsov, then Kravtsov being ahead of Wahlstrom, and now look.

To give him his due Brooks literally seems to break every significant Ranger story. No one else, not Carp, Vince, etc. And he is willing to take on players and management, not just look to get along for access. He'll be missed when he is gone.

what does this even mean lmfao. Are they supposed to hold a press conference acknowledging that he stinks so far?

Oh man we got a very serious hockey thinker over here. Everyone line up your apologies for poking fun at his thread title
