At this point, Peart and Lambos seem to be trending in the C tier prospect level and I’d rather the Islanders pick up a forward instead of a defenseman to start anyways. There’s too many LHD in the system currently. You’re removing the A tier prospects of Buium/Ohgren/Stramel/Yurov. Who’s left that’s available and isn’t a 5’10 forward?
Here is our prospect ranking list from this past summer:

1. Danila Yurov (55.1%)

I apologize on the Yurov proposal. He is extremely intriguing and good on the Wild for making a pick in the bottom half of the first round which looks currently undervalued. Give us one of Kumpulainen or Ritchie and the 2025 2nd. Someone is going to beat that offer though.

Honestly it would be in the 4-7 range based on this and I have no interest in Khusnutdinov. Realistically you’re looking at a Heidt/Ohgren/Ritchie and picks if it came down to it.

That's a nice farm team for the league

Since the summer, Stramel's value will have gone way up. Certainly a top 10 prospect now. Big, strong C who can skate, and is now close to a P/pg in college. Jack Peart will have moved way down, Spacek and Lambos up a bit. Wallstedt down some.

Which is why the 2nd+Heidt offer was made in the prior thread. However, Russo basically said the Wild are “out” during his podcast because they don’t have the cap space, would need either a broker or NYI to retain, and they’re not willing to give up a 1st round pick or a top prospect. He speculated further that they shouldn’t trade for him now if they plan on him signing with the organization this upcoming summer.

I would have Stramel somewhere right under Ohgren at this moment. Possibly above Heidt, but they are similar tier at this point.

Wonder if Kivi would be higher too.

If Canes don't land Miller, I see them looking at Nelson as plan B. He can be that 2C we've been looking for.

KK and a late 1st might be an offer no other contender can touch. Maybe the Avs with Mittelstadt. Seems like overpayment and I agree but when you consider many teams will offer the 1st and B parts added, someone has to offer more to trump the others.

Heidt+2nd realistically isn’t comparable to what other teams would offer based on that alone. The Wilds cap dumps also wouldn’t work because they’re all multi year deals and that would essentially force Billy G to offer a better prospect then the names I listed to offset the cap waste of another 4th liner with term. If it became a sign and trade type of deal, it’s a whole different story though.

The 2 that I've always looked at and liked were Ritche and Stombel. But again, at this point we are beating this to death. I can't wait until Lou finally deals him...and we see the end results. But I have a feeling Lou is still going to screw this up even though there are now 6 teams whom inquired about Nelson.

I don’t think he’ll screw it up but I do think it’ll be a trade that we didn’t even expect and a team that comes out of left field. Similar to the Romanov trade which appeared out of a magic hat
