Player Discussion Brock Boeser - Brock Around the Clock

  • We sincerely apologize for the extended downtime. Our hosting provider, XenForo Cloud, encountered a major issue with their backup system, which unfortunately resulted in the loss of some critical data from the past year.

    What This Means for You:

    • If you created an account after March 2024, it no longer exists. You will need to sign up again to access the forum.
    • If you registered before March 2024 but changed your email, username, or password in the past year, those changes were lost. You’ll need to update your account details manually once you're logged in.
    • Threads and posts created within the last year have been restored.
    • Our 2025 light and dark themes were lost, so we are rebuilding them. Light theme is currently available, but work in progress

Our team is working with Xenforo Cloud to recover data using backups, sitemaps, and other available resources. We know this is frustrating, and we deeply regret the impact on our community. We are taking steps with Xenforo Cloud to ensure this never happens again. This is work in progress. Thank you for your patience and support as we work through this.

How is Brock proving people wrong? It's like some of you have Mango's goldfish memory. He's always been streaky like this where he looks elite for 5-6 games and then goes goes MIA for 10-15 games. This season he was MIA for 20 games before the last game. Last season he was more consistent and he will look to get paid based on that season. DeBrusk is similar and that's why we have problems since both of them are almost useless if they don't score.

I want us to keep Brock but you can't pay him over 7mil/season.

It's reasonably assured he will get $8m AAV+ here or elsewhere.

You're right that he's streaky, and he does not provide overt intangibles, but he is a 1st line producer. Over the last 5 years, he's 83rd among all forwards and 21st among right wingers in P/GP.

An underrated aspect of Boeser with Pettersson is that he makes the short pass or play. Reminds me of Kuzmenko. Hoglander does it too, but is not as smart with the puck. These two wingers are the best fits for Pettersson on the roster imo.

Last, the odds they do better with the cap space are slim.

If Brock wants $8M a year, he better play like a $8M down the stretch. Otherwise he's definitely gone. I'd like to keep him, his inconsistent play in the regular season IMO has been attenuated by his past playoff performances. I think he's a guy who plays better in warmer weather.

Im a massive Boeser booster.

But...

People keep saying things like this.

He has two playoff runs. One okay and one point per game. The sample size is tiny. He has 1 where he shot 25%.

I thought he played well in the bubble. If you as a slower player can habitually play better when the games get faster, it’s a really good sign. Which is why people say and think the bolded.

Now this will be hard for the Boeser haters to navigate here... :D

I look forward to giving Boeser $8mx8 then Hughes leaving as a ufa/ traded when he wrong resign because the team sucks. Otoh he's done his buddy a huge favour, have to admire that. JK or am I...

But seriously he's doing a friend a favour talking him up. Management have to make the smart hockey move not the emotional one. T

Without Brock we have 1 legitimate top 6 forward in EP, and another extremely complementary top 6 in Debrusk. (Chytil even if healthy is more 3C IMO, Lekk is still raw.) For all his warts, Brock does have the X factor (sometimes) and even in a very trying season would be pacing close to 30G, 60 Pts. Hopefully they will come together and get a reasonable deal done.
