I, like many of you, have been looking for something a little more critical than we get from the beats and the fan blogs. I've been threatening to start one for some time, and I finally went and did it. I present to you Broad Street Brain Rot.

Still have a bit of work to do on the website/design side of things, but I wanted to kick off with a bang. So here's a behemoth 2,500 word piece on the Cutter Gauthier debacle, which I believe to be the most complete and critical piece that has been written on this subject. By anyone. Anywhere.

I'm not sure every chronicle in this series is going to be a full-blown feature-style story like this, but this sure as hell isn't going to be a typical fan blog. I'm going to be doing stories, present and past, about the dynamics that lead this team to constant failure. It might be too high-brow for some of the fans who needed to hear this stuff the most, but whatever.

It exists for whoever wants to read it. And I'm pretty proud of it.

Let me know how you feel about this one and things you'd like to see documented/discussed/harped on. Past, present, or future.

You might want to throw some hashtags on the twitter post for more exposure.

This is awesome, I work in SEO and would gladly donate some time for the cause. If you haven’t already take a look at the RankedMath Wordpress plugin!

The irony being that I run marketing for a company, and after all that writing and Wordpress I'm kinda in the "none of that work shit today" mode with it. Consider it a soft launch for the HF crew and my small base of close porn bot followers. I'll get to playing the Twitter game and filling out About section/metadata later.

(how is RankedMath compared to the generic Yoast though)

You have a real way with words man! I look forward to more of your pieces. Flyers beats are lickspittles so this is a breath of fresh air.

Note: I did not post this and do not frequent the place. I wanted to see how they treated it. Unsurprisingly, most didn't read or it talk about the actual content at all. Just Orange Good.

Reddit Search Tool is invaluable for these situations.

Damn. Bet I can win them back if I copy + paste entire press release paragraphs and scan some of my daughter's coloring book pages though.

The "Cutter, who?" comments make me laugh. Like they're not the ones that drove up to Chestnut Hill (Mass) to harass the dude the next day.

I can't read it through the firewall of doom, but will tonight. As for other topics, a critical look at the scouting staff and their record, given the "LOL, fans don't know as much as the scouts, trust the front office when it comes to the draft, LOL" from the mouthpieces the past few weeks, seems timely.

Thank you for writing, and starting the website.

It is not through Comcast’s acumen that changes will happen in Philadelphia. It will only be through enough fanbase pressure.

They moved on from Fletcher/Scott because the water got just a little too hot. It’s time to turn up that furnace again.

Thanks again. If you want to dabble into podcasting with some guests, I think that would be a good way to grow things. The current voices are basically all the same, and complicit in the rot.

It exists I swear. I haven't had an issue on any devices, bang this link and post/DM a screenshot if it persists.

Excellent work on this. It’s refreshing to see an objective, unemotional, evidence based approach. That is sorely lacking in the world generally.

I’ll admit I got caught up in the “Cutter is a pos” discourse and it was certainly at least subconsciously impacted by the messaging. As you discussed, it is extremely rare to see a similar hard line being taken uniformly by an entire organization against a player. So the natural inclination for most people is to think the player truly did something equally awful to warrant it.
Cutter was not blameless but the team shares most of the blame. There’s a nuance there that many people cannot discern.

It also makes you wonder how well positioned they are (spoiler: they aren’t), to treat future big egos. If their reaction to each instance is simply going to be “well, he didn’t want to be a Flyer” that will get hilariously predictable and dry out quickly and even some of the believers will start second guessing things.

Surprised you didn't touch on the "Kevin Hayes is to blame for Cutter leaving" fiasco, but I guess that part is more conjecture and harder to directly tie to management.

Good article though, really enjoyed reading it.
