Brisson confirms that EP40 dealt with injury which prevented him from Off-season Training.

The cohort of the population that you get when you take NHLers is a bunch of outliers in pain tolerance and dedication and competitiveness. And there is a tribal aspect to team sports that enhances this.

I'm talking about the mindset/attitudes. I also disagree with the deification of professional athletes.

This is something completely foreign to 99% of your average joe working 9 to 5.

Reality would indicate otherwise. I have more respect for the warehouse guy going in with a hernia than I do the pro athlete who is drugged to the gills on painkillers, plugged with cortisone shots, has a personal doctor and trainer, etc.

Late to this news, but not surprised. I am surprised that the team and his agent did not share this previously. Would have been a smarter move then how they've handled it, imo.

There seems to be many people here that don't understand basics regarding hockey training. It is extremely difficult to make physical gains during the season. You lose lbs a game at a high level. There isn't enough time to spend on power skating training, as an example - the guys are mostly recovering and practicing in between games.

Having said that, I do think the team and Petey need to do a better job with his off season planning and training. It's time to level/catch up this year, and I'd love to see the twins lean in on this. I still don't think it's smart to give up on EP40.

Its just what happens when you select a group of people that ended up in the NHL.

No it doesnt even if you want it to.

Meh.

Petey skates as if his knee is either tightly wrapped or braced. He’s lacking flex. Can’t be getting worse, or he’d be shut down. But it’s clearly evident.

Maybe

Maybe not

Unfortunately, your posts don't get the benefit of the doubt when it comes to interpretation

Well, that’s just rude.

And my initial post was pretty clear:
One interesting question to me i, how long should Pettersson be reasonably given to regain his form of play, and play as an 11.6 million dollar player is expected to play, acknowledging that his off season training was poor (whether wholly or partly due to injury)?

The brackets make it crystal clear that I was acknowledging that the poor off season could have been wholly a result of his injury.

Of course, you missed the whole point of the post anyway, which wasn’t to argue more about the effect of his injury, but to look forward and discuss when we can reasonably expect him to be back to normal.

But your misinterpretation seems to be more a result of the entrenched position of outrage you have taken with respect to all the Petey hating you seem to think is happening here. Of course, it’s really just one or two posters that you could just ignore, but continue on if you’d like.

you brought it on yourself

In a thread littered with petterhate, you slipped in a comment blaming his off season training, despite all the evidence available

at best it was an idiotic mistake, at worst just a continuation of the petterhate

so you dont get the benefit of the doubt, and you wear it

The only thing idiotic in our exchange is your obvious misinterpretation of my initial post. My post was very clear that wasn’t presuming either way whether the injury was or wasn’t the cause of the poor off season training, and the main point of the post was also clearly looking forward as to when we can reasonably expect him to get back to normal.

But again, you have dug yourself into wanting to be outraged at perceived Petey hate. Rather than whine about this hate why don’t you just ignore the one or two posters that are actually hating on Petey?
