I’d imagine teams will call. But I’d guess they sign him to a very team friendly extension. He is worth more in that room then what we could get in a trade in my opinion, even if we are out of it

Dating back to last season, Gally now has 13 goals 5 assists and 18 points in his last 24 games.

Playing 13-14 minutes a game has kept him more fresh, and he's been getting to the dirty areas more where he's most effective at getting scoring chances.

After all the injuries he dealt with it is great to see him playing well.
He’s been excelling 5-on-5 close to tops on the team per fancy stats, without PP

Gally has been pure garbage for the past 3-4 seasons................that said, this year, wow, he has reinvented himself, and spends time in front of the net, and guess what, he has been a scoring machine by habs standards...................good on him.

Glad he has found the fountain........................let's hope he can keep it up. Marriage agrees with him....

Sigh, what can we say

If it was like one rough season then it would be on us. But it really looked like he was done because it’s been like 4 years now. Maybe a bit more.

But one thing he seems to be proving again is that you can never give up on him.

If you look at the 1st page of this thread there’s a bunch of us writing him off back in 2017 lol.

Glad he’s back. Would love if we could get a few more seasons out of him.

It was more like 3 years (14 goals and 23 points in 35 games in the bubble season is not bad).

And Gallagher wasn't as bad as people pretended he was for the past few years (especially when considering injuries) and he's probably not going to keep shooting 21% this year, at which point fans will look at a lack of production and start shitting on him again.

He's overpaid, but has enough value on and off the ice that it doesn't make sense as a buyout candidate. That's been the case since the rebuild started.

He took way too much abuse over the past few years, you are dead on correct.

That being said, he started off hot last year and cooled off. As you said, that shooting percentage is high and will probably fall. Still, it's good to see that he continues to go to the hard areas even now and forces the play. Good role model from that persepctive.

Watching Gallagher try to keep up with Hutson out there has been one of my favourite parts of the season. He clearly “gets” what Lane is up to most of the time

Gallagher has also been put into an optimum position to succeed by wait for it…… his coach who apparently has serious issues doing his job

He’s always excelled at 5-on-5, and is best on the team again but is managed to 15TOI or less, no PP, and his 3rd line has dominated its opposition this season…

The thing that surprised me most was that Gallagher was able to play 77 games last year because I felt he was held together with duct tape and I still do to an extent.

He can't move like he used to especially in the trenches but part of his revival probably has to do with his body simply not breaking down on him in recent times whereas it was breaking down on him constantly before that.

Load management - limited to 15TOI and no PP beatings in front of the net

He seems way more disciplined & mature this year. You don't see him arguing with refs/players and take stupid penalties anymore.

He only has 4 PIM this year and both are from coincidental penalties, for a guy who averages close to a penalty minute per game in his career that is pretty impressive lol.

Nowhere land
Gallagher is an example for all those who have to go thru difficult times. It can be health problems, harassment or financial badlucks. He's someone that was down to the ground, almost nobody to support him, he was written done, burnt, good for a buyout next year, etc. And without any expectations, he rebound this year, he scores on a bottom line and he never get PP ice time. I can't find the exact words to express myself, he's an example for me and I admire him very much. Love you Gally !! :)
